S.D has actually scored more points then any team in the league! Who would have guessed that? They might still be around in Dec. I doubt it but they might!

SD had to make a move since Caldwell got hurt. TB just got lucky that a team desperate enough finally came along. 2 picks seems like way too much to give up for a guy who might not be able to be much of an impact this year. Plus SD has said they will not re-work his contract, so the Chargers could be in the same boat that Tampa was in next year, unless McCardell finally wises up and realizes his name isn't Moss or Owens.

If my memory is correct, both Albert Connell and Michael Westbrook had 1k+ yard seasons in 99. This doesn't mean they're 'elite' though. Good receivers, but ones you could live w/out if need be.

Looks like TB is developing an excellent receiver in Clayton now, anyway.

yikes, i never said or meant to imply elite... he just aint it, just saying that he ain't total crap, and SD could definately benefit from having him. and TB got a nice deal out of it too... seems TB's main problem was its old QB, not the entire offense... their D isn't nearly as good as it was a couple years back, and their O isn't good enough to win shoot outs, but they seem to have gone from miserable to respectable (even if they're not very good).

If he performs like he did last year SD may not pay him like Moss or Owens but they will probably put a little extra coin in his pocket.
