Re: Your First Round Mock Draft (Version I)
No way we address the defense in the first 2 rounds...are you guys forgetting how AWFUL we were on offense this past year? We need somebody on the Offensive side of the football...our defense was rather decent last year...

Re: Your First Round Mock Draft (Version I)
if we trade down and acquire 3 picks in the first two rounds, i'd be somewhat surprised if one of them wasnt a defensive player. we already have a hole at FS regardless, but we're also switching to a 3-4 defense. even though our defense was pretty strong last year, it won't be in a 3-4 unless we start acquiring some serious talent there.

Re: Your First Round Mock Draft (Version I)
My dream draft/offseason (not entirely realistic) would actually go as follows:
- Redskins stick with 4-3 base defense in 2010, while using a considerable amount 3-4. The actual base defense switch doesnt occur until 2011. Orkapo will play DE in our 4-3 defense and OLB in the 3-4. - Play Landry at Strong Safety. Move Buchannon, Carlos Rogers, or perhaps even Kevin Barnes to free safety. Move Santana to the slot. - Trade our Chris Horton and our 1st and 2nd round picks (#4 and #37, 2330 pts) to SF for their first three picks in the draft (#13, #17, #49, 2500 pts). - Trade Anthonmy Mongtomery and #13 pick (950 points) to the Chargers (who want to trade ahead of Seattle and land CJ Spiller) for the their 1st and 2nd round picks (#28 and #40, 1160 points) - Trade Fred Davis to New England (who needs a TE) for their second pick in the 2nd round (#47, 430 points). Skins draft picks are as follows: 1 (17) - LT Trent Williams (if not available, then Mike Iupati to play LT) 1 (28) - QB Colt McCoy (a project for the Shanahans) 2 (40) - RT Roger Saffold (if not available, then RT Jared Veldheer) 2 (47) - LB Jason Worilds (4-3 OLB, 3-4 ILB) 2 (49) - WR/RB/KR Dexter McCluster (since we didn't get Sproles) 4 (101) - FS Kam Chancellor 5 (132) - RB LeGarrette Blount 7 (196) - BPA, preferably a C, OG, or TE

2009 - ranked 10th (fell late in the season, was Top 5 most of year) 2008 - 4th 2007 - 8th 2006 - OK, horrible, ranked 31st!!?!?!? 2005 - 9th 2004 - 3rd Of course have have a few defensive needs, FS and 3-4 LB...but they are nowhere near as urgent as offensive line and possibly RB for the future. Sellers is nearing the end also, without a backup (Eddie Williams hurt, cut, now on Bears).

Re: Your First Round Mock Draft (Version I)
If we got Mays we would have to put him at OLB , if we wanted a saftey go for Earl Thomas who i like better then even Eric Berry.

Re: Your First Round Mock Draft (Version I)
Here goes...........
Trade our first, fifth and Carlos Rogers to 49ers. We get both 1sts and their 3rd, and they fill in their desperate need at CB. Laron L. can slide over to SS and make way for the new stud FS............... 13 -Williams, OT Oklahoma 17 - Thomas, FS Texas 37 - Daryl Washington, OLB TCU 79 - Jon Asamoah, G Ill. 104 - JD Walton, C Baylor The top 4 picks here could feasibly all start their freshman seasons, and Walton, is a HUGE value if he drops to our 4th round pick, and could also compete for the starting job. Even if he doesnt get the nod this year, I think he is a lock to make the final roster, What a talent he is. Guy is so quick...... I think this slate for our draft would be AWESOmE!!!!!! Here's to hopin'!!!! |

Re: Your First Round Mock Draft (Version I)
This is one of the deepest drafts in almost 20 years. Everyone knows this and it will make it difficult to trade for more picks.
I keep hearing there is not a huge drop off in talent in picks 1-10 as compared to picks 10-30. |
