Once Colt is gone, I have a feeling the boards will be jammed with "McNabb is a bust bring on Sexy Rexy" or "McNabb should love us more that Philly because we care threads."

It is the offseason what can I say! everyone swore up and down that we were gonna take a QB in the draft and we didn't. He may learn something under the Shanahan family.

I really hope he is cut. Nothing personal against him but I am just so over the whole love-fest for a 3rd stringer who popped his wad 2 preseasons ago against Wal-Mart dock workers.

We're moving on from JC, let's move on from Colt as well.

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Colt is like 28 years old at this point. Is he even worth grooming anymore. If McNabb has 3 good years left do we really want to turn things over in 2014 to a 31 year old QB that has never taken meaningful snaps? I think the ships sunk...

That's not to say I am all that excited about his competition either...maybe we keep only 2 QB's.

That actually wouldn't surprise me at all

Why the hell does someone bring up Brennan? Odds are Bruce and Mike are going to get their franchise guy next draft or in '12. Brennan was exposed in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia(a real team from a real conference) and got toasted. After that nobody even bothered with the guy. We drafted him for depth and being a possible diamond in the rough. IF Chase Daniel was a few inches taller, Brennan would have been the one let go. JC was average at best, and hindsight being 20/20 Gibbs thought he was going to be a steal also. But in reality, his success his senior year was indeed more to do with that phenomenal backfield he had. Mr Pineapple had a good team around him playing some rather weak opponents. Bottom line is Brennan will be #3 here til he gets released.

I guess my main point is that if we are going to bother grooming someone he should be 22 not 27. A player Colt's age should already be at least a #2 QB. I think if he is not good enough to beat out Grossman this summer then we should move on.

This will be Colt Brennan's 3rd season, last year spent almost entirely on the IR.
I agree that if he does not surpass Rex Grossman on the depth chart at some point this season, his stint in DC will most likely be over.
If CB does step up and beat out RG for the 2nd QB spot on the roster, then I believe that he would have earned the "QB to Groom" spot.
I see nothing wrong with his age. In 3-4 years supposing that he was still on the roster, It would be for a VERY good reason. The only reason CB would be on the roster in 2014 is to be the starter or just taking over the reins ala Kevin Kolb.

I agree...if he can beat out grossman then it's all good. I just think he's getting a little old to be lingering around as a #3 QB.

LOL, it's funny to think we actually think 26 is "getting a little too old".
In reality Brennan is a long shot, more likely to get cut than become the next Joe Montana, but I'd love for him to do it!

Shanny is going to draft a QB in 2011 or 2012, I am sure he wants to shore up the O line before he gets his guy in here. Brennan isn't "his" guy just as much as JC wasn't "his" either. Brennan is going to be like Sage Rosenfel for us til his contract is up.

Re: Pinneapple Jesus vs. the new qb's brought in

I would love to see Colt become the starting qb & be as good in reg. season games as he was in the preseason two years ago. I'm not saying it's anything approaching realistic, just saying I'd like to see him become our qb of the future.

In the meantime, I'd love to see him make the team.
