First major snow storm of 2010-2011 Winter today

Meh. After last year's snowpacalypse, I'd hardly call this "major." Pretty though. I'm glad I don't have to drive in rush-hour today. What a nightmare.

I should have made a better title. I meant it was the first major storm for my area, the shenandoah valley. We had a skiff of snow last Friday that amounted to about 1/2 inch, but today's 4 inches is our first significant storm of the season...

I know your from NY, Matty, but down here 4-6 inch snowstorms are something to talk about for us small-town folks, lol.. Out of curiousity, where do you live in NY? My dad owns a business in Pulaski, NY, and stays there a few days a month throughout the year. So i definatley have respect for what you guys go through. 2 winters ago we were on the roof and Dad and I were taking turns shoveling snow off the roof lol...

might have been four inches and actually maybe less, but you wanna take a stab in the dark at how long it took me to get from old town alexandria to woodbridge going staright down route 1 yesterday? try over 2 ****ing hours, people around here are god damn idiots when snow hits the road, on any other day it should take about 30 minutes and thats hitting every light and maybe a little traffic.

and i guess prince william county doesn't have any snow plows?

We got around 3" and the worse time for driving was around 1 when most people got let out of work. It turned to rain around 2:30 and the roads where pretty good around 5:00pm when most people should have left for the day. Right now I have had 11 customers file accident claims and I'm sure I'll see more.

This is the best snow story.

A customer of mine a few years back hit some black ice and slid into a ditch. The cop was writing him a ticket for careless driving and told my customer he was driving to fast for the conditions. While he was arguing with the cop another cop drove up and slid on the black ice and ended up in the same ditch. My customer looked at the cop and said "Are you going to give him a ticket also" cop tore up his ticket.

I hate when mid westerns and northerners like to pretend they are snow He-Men. I have lived most of my life up north and it is not so much the amount of snow that causes problems but the lack of equipment down here to clear it. 4 inches in Rhode Island was a joke becasue they have a plow for every street but here in MD or below we don't have all that equipment to clear it.

Not to pick on you Matty but it just gets old. Last night when folks were leaving people were saying be careful driving. A few times I heard "Oh I am from XX northern state I think I know snow." Whatever like becasue you use to live in XX northern state you have a immune to snow badge on your car.

And only to be far any one from say SC down shut the f-ck up we don't care that it was 70 degrees out yesterday or today. GO OUTSIDE AND ENJOY IT! Instead of sitting on the internet.

Heres a funny story from a customer who had a wreck on black ice. He slid into a ditch going about five miles an hour because he just could not stop and the road was just slick ice. A cop pulled up and was writing him a ticket for driving to fast for the conditions. My customer tried to tell the officer that he was only going about 5 MPH but the officer would not listen. Then another officer was pulling up to see what was going on and slid into the ditch right beside my customers car. My customer looked at the officer writing the ticked and asked if he was going to write the other officer the same ticket. He said they both kind of laughed and he tore up the ticket.
