In 2007, Snyder sent Shapiro, his handpicked CEO, to lobby the Agawam mayor and the town council into banning visitors from parking at the non-Six Flags-owned lots. Shapiro testified at a public hearing that it was unsafe for pedestrians to walk to Six Flags from anywhere but its own lots. The local politicians banned the satellite lots after Shapiro's appearance.

The stadium ban was tossed out in 2004 when a Prince George's County, Md., judge ruled that Redskins management had invented the safety issue to force ticketholders to pay Snyder's tops-in-the-league parking fees. When Palazzi pointed out that there hadn't been a single safety problem related to the satellite lots in Agawam, the town council quickly repealed the ban by unanimous vote. Palazzi then went on to manage the political campaign of substitute teacher Susan Dawson, who used the Six Flags parking issue to unseat four-term incumbent Agawam Mayor Richard Cohen in November 2007. "We fought a multibillion-dollar corporation and the corruption in this town, and we won," Palazzi said after the election. "Good triumphed."

You'd figure the American people would be sick and tired of corporate assholes influencing and corrupting our government to make them even richer. I guess not. At least one small town learned and removed the assholes and policies that allowed him.

Well this is all about Dan Snyder and not the Redskins in my opinion. I guess this matters to Redskins fans because he is the owner of the team, but honestly I don't see how any of this has to do with the Redskins as a football team.

I think it is very hard to separate the two. Snyder's ownership of the Redskins is what makes him newsworthy to begin with, and it his stewardship of the team that was the biggest target in the City Paper article that he got so upset about. Snyder himself references his ownership of the team several times in his Wash. Post piece. And given that he has developed a fair amount of notoriety in the general sports world, stories like this end up getting publicity not just from Redskins fans and local news outlets, but bigger ones as well--ESPN's website is where I first saw mention of the lawsuit's original filing.

Any time a term is used in law, the COLLOQUIAL definition of the term must be thrown out the window.

In the case of malice, the definition is:

On a separate note, Snyder indeed bullshitted with the cancer card big time. Did he even read the article? The "accusation" in the article is that she was basically was a shill playing "personal transformation" card, as if he pulled a St. Paul-like transformation for making a mere HIRING decision.

Dan Snyder wrote an op-ed for his most favoritest paper in town, the Washington Post. It’s a fun update on his lawsuit against Washington City Paper, the local alt-weekly that nobody paid attention to until three months ago. It’s dumb.


I expect to be criticized once again for pursuing this lawsuit. I originally filed it for one reason:

The paper refused to issue an apology and retract false and damaging attacks on my integrity.
Oh come on, that’s satire.

If it had done so, there would have been no lawsuit.

For more than eight months, the same writer at this tabloid blogged or wrote about me.

The reporters of The Post and other papers know that my communications adviser, Tony Wyllie, is available 24-7 to respond to questions about me and the Washington Redskins.
So enamored with Vinny Cerrato was Snyder that he replaced his former sidekick with two men, Wyllie and GM Bruce Allen. Wyllie appears to be the right-hand man and future reluctant radio show host, while Allen is the franchise’s mouthpiece and eventual fall-guy.

This writer, however, chose not to call to check the facts before he wrote an article last November that contained so many false assertions.
Of which Snyder rebuts exactly one. Sort of.

I am the son of a University of Missouri School of Journalism graduate whose professional pedigree includes working at United Press International and National Geographic.
Journalism courses through his veins. His plasma is rich in both platelets and integrity.

I am not thin-skinned about personal criticism.


I consider myself very fortunate to own the Redskins.

I have never sued people who publish critical opinions of me, nor have I previously sued any news organization.
If you can’t sue ‘em, buy ‘em.

I understand the anger people feel toward me when the Redskins have a losing season or when we sign a veteran player who does not meet expectations.
Or when we forbid you to bring signs in to the hellscape that is our stadium. Or when we go in to the draft with holes at all but two positions without third or fourth round draft picks.
Seriously, how does this keep happening? People are starting to ask questions.

Pre-approved free expression, preferably.

But even a public figure can sue for defamation when a tabloid paper publishes a harmful assertion of a fact, not an opinion, that it knows to be false or recklessly disregards the truth.
I hope Dan Snyder’s lawyer’s dad went to a really good law school, because proving what Dave McKenna knew to be false is going to be a tough mother****er.
