Have you guys heard about the soap opera going on in St. Louis with Martz?
First he had the owner of the team send a letter to all the players saying his job was safe, then he calls out Kyle Turley in the press saying he's stealing money from the team by being on IR. Then he and Turley have a little face to face meeting and Martz has to have security escort him out of his office saying Turley threatened to kill him. Martz isn't all there. |

Three main things. Get the deals done on Pierce, Smoot and Samuels.
Cuts will be minimal but their will be some natural wastage including McCants and Gardner the Rock and maybe Brunell in a post june 1st move. I Just don't see us drafting Williams we have gone WR with our top pick in 3 of the last five years and got nothing to show for it and Gibbs will be remembering Desmond Howard. Have a long talk with Vinny about his future with the team. Also get Bobby Bethard on the phone, he is not tied in with Atlanta, he has a lot of respect for Gibbs and it would get the necessary headlines to keep the season tickets sold in the offseason to bring him back . Don't touch the coaching staff unless they ask for help. I think the only addition will be Ray Brown as an assistant OL/possition conditioning coach. |

Obviously resign Smoot and Pierce and restructure Samuels.. Beyond that I would:
1) Try to trade Gardner for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick. He was almost dealt a couple of years ago, there should be some market for him. If we have to package a future pick in order to move him (ex. Gardner and 2006 3rd round for a high 2nd this year) let's do it. McCants makes plays when he's in there, Jacobs needs to step up. 2) Trade down in the draft for multiple picks. We are not one impact player away from making a turnaround. We need multiple playmakers on both sides of the ball (preferably at DE and WR or TE) to make teams account for them. Other than Arrington and Portis, we don't have any players that teams need to gameplan for. 3) Keep free agent sigings to a minimum. The one player I would like to see us go hard after is Darren Howard of the Saints. He will be an unrestricted FA and the Saints will likely not go after him hard to keep him. He's relentless to the QB and a solid run defender. I think he'd be an excellent addition. If there is an upgrade at C then make that move, but I don't think they will. Other than that, I would build depth in the secondary and on both lines through FA. 4) Modernize the playbook. Unless you have a defense like the Ravens or Patriots that put points on the board, you cannot have an offensive philosophy that focuses on not losing the game. To paraphrase Herm Edwards, 'You have to play to win the game!' I get so tired of seeing other teams with receivers just running in wide open spaces and then see Coles run an 8 yd hook pattern with nowhere to run. If Ramsey is the QB, then let him be the QB, don't run this pennyannie dink and dunk game that keeps 8 defenders in the box. Portis did him damage with 3 wides in the game and on stretch plays, use the counter gap as a change up, not as the bread and butter. |

lets see me as GM first I'd resign defensive players such as Smoot, Pierce, Sallevai, Lott, Franz, Harris, & Marshall. I would resign gardner then if it works for us trade him for a pick similar to the bryan johnson trade.
I'd try to restructure Brunnell, Samuels, Bowen, Coles, Wynn, and Daniels. If Jets don't resign Abraham I'd try everything to get him, or Darren Howard of the saints we let the freak get away so lets not do the same agian. I'd cut or look for trade value in McCants, bett, and morton. I'd cut Jermaine Haley, Lennie Friedman, Mike Sellers, hasselbeck, Rock Cartwright, Brian Kozlowski. I'd also sign some depth in a cb and the line. if ray brown doesn't retire i'd add him for depth. As for the draft I would do something different than most of you. it would go as follows 1trade down far enough that i can still take cedrick Benson RB Texas (explain later) 2 get a 2nd round by trading down or giving away a player if available take Heath Miller TE Virginia or a top notch center 3 I doubt he'll slip this far but Timmy chang qb Hawaii if not there Roydell Williams WR Tulane, or Ryan Riddle DE Cal 4 if he is here chad owens wr Hawaii (special teams speciallist to replace morton)or a linemen Later rounds De Andra Cobb Michigan St.(pr/kr & if we didn't get owens), Jonathon Goddard Marshall(undersized but strong high motor de) and depth at line both offense and defense. u may ask why take Benson, well the best running team in the league this year is atlanta who has a wicked one two puch. and this would protect our investment in portis, he'll last longer and no one could stop our running game and guess who was a part owner when they drafted tj duckett and brought in dunn.... gibbs i feel he played a part in that in some way.

2. This was Byner's first year in a coaching capacity I think he's ready to take on a bigger role 3. With the money they'll need to keep Shaun Alexander and Hasselbeck (if they choose to keep him) should we consider taking Walter Jones from the Seahawks 4. Agree. Financially I don't if letting Barrow go is a great idea but I would like to see Clemons get some more playing time. Could be another Shawn Barber 5. I'd hold onto Wynn and Daniels until we find some depth to replace them. Plus Daniels can play some DT as well 6. Let's hope Coles gets healthy. Ramsey clicks well with McCants. And I think Jacobs needs to be given more playing time. I think he can be a real game breaker. I like Gardner but it's time to trade him I think. I might go after Mushin Muhammad or TJ Houshmandzadeh instead of Mike Williams 7. Beyond Cooley and Royal I don't think any TE/HB is safe 8. I think we should stick with Ramsey, no need to start at QB all over again 9. I'd hold onto Danny Smith. Since he's a Gregg Williams guy I do wonder though if he has some bigger plans for Smith if and when he becomes the next HC of the Skins

Is anyone considering the actual picks we do have? I do agree with some things. Re-sign Pierce (before Sunday), possibly Smoot (only if negotiations don't get out of hand). Restructure Brunell, if possible, Samuels (unlikely). Let Gardner (contract expires at season's end), Morton, Kozlowski, and Barrow go. I believe a 'surprising' trade is bound to happen. Maybe Betts (remember how well Simon seemed to play before he got hur?), Ramsey, or Arrington (gasp!). Having few high selections in the draft, that's the only way we'll aquire more. By trading someone who has trade value. A WR is priortiy. I say we need a guy like Bethel Johnson. Or possibly a CB (replacement for Smoot) in the mold of Jerry Azumah. No coincidence both of these guys have PR/KR experience. DE is also a great need. Quality Cs, OLs, and TEs will have to be found in later rounds but whoever is brought in to shore up the D-line and possibly replace L.A. will do just fine.

If we traded Ramsey to the Dolphins and actually got their first rounder. I'd go after the guy from Cal (Rodgers I think) and Mike Williams with our pick.

i certainly would'nt keep barrow,he did'nt have to do shit this year and he got a fat paycheck.i would keep arrington, ramsey, coles, and thrash.jansen will be back,we have to keep pierce and smoot.show morton, the door and tell him not to let it hit him where the good lord split him on the way out.gibbs needs to get creative in the play calling dept, and the special teams too.the whole team needs to be analyzed from start to finish.i'm sure
gibbs and the coaches will start doing that next monday.i still feel a lot better about the skins this year than i did last year at this time.i never saw them quit in any game, and the only game they really got blown out of was the first eagles game.the skins will be a lot better next year guys, have faith in the man who brought the redskins 3 lombardi trophies.

I know you didnt say this, but I would be shocked if right now we got a SECOND rounder for Ramsey, and I'm one of his biggest supporters. Not that we should trade him, becasue I dont think we should and wont. Just saying.

Gmac - me too. That's why I said and actually got their first rounder 8)
Personally, I like Ramsey a lot. Rogers just has that mobility that it seems Gibbs covets. |

How do we get Hasselbeck in? I at least want him to compete for the #2 spot. And I'm more than sure there's a team or two interested in Ramsey. On offense, Gibbs seems to want guys he can trust to take care of the ball. Just like he found out that Betts, and Ramsey to a lower degree, are capable of doing that, he has give younger guys an opportunity. Oh yeah, nothing will make me happier to see that Daniels is given his walking papers. For some reason him and Brunell were exempt from taking a physical before being signed.
