He's under the radar compared to guys such as Von Miller or Aldon Smith but 3-6 doesn't help the cause

I'm not saying I think he should get it because Von Miller seems to be playing out of this world, and I'm not sure how good patrick peterson is as a corner but as a return man he has been insane, but when I see JJ Watt and Aldon Smith consistently mentioned, it irks me that kerrigan isn't also. Out of all the pass rushing rookies, he leads in tackles (is 4 shy of triple Smith's total), he is the only one with a pass defensed (and he has 4), he is the only player with an interception or a touchdown, and he leads the pass rushing rookies in forced fumbles by double what second place has (he has 4, next most is 2).
If Watt and Smith get mentioned without Kerrigan one more time imma blow up.

Forget stats for a moment and watch a couple of actual NFL games with your own eyes.

Ryan Kerrigan is really really good.

Von Miller is better.

That is based on nine NFL games in both of their careers; that may not be the situation when both careers have played themselves out. But at the moment, only a Redskin fan or the guy who scouted Kerrigan and put him on the Skins' draft board in the first place would argue that Kerrigan has played better than Von Miller so far.

Kerrigan has had a solid rookie campaign. It's hard to imagine that he's not being considered for defensive rookie of the year.

Kerrigan is totally solid but 1) he's on a really bad horrible team and 2) hasn't been a "game-changer" since week 1.

That said I wish we would return to the 4-3 and make the most out of our roster. Kerrigan would be a phenom LDE. Rak at RDE obviously. And we already have better DT types than any real NTs. And our LB corp wouldn't really change. Riley, Fletch and Mac should all start.

This coaching staff is trying to fit a round peg into a squaure hole on both sides of the ball.

The way you earn "genius credentials" in the NFL is to put "your stamp" on a team or on a defense or on some aspect of the game.

[BTW: that was Joe Bugel's ticket to NFL employment for about 20 years even though he never had an OL that was nearly as good as the one he had here with 3 HoF caliber players lining up at the same time.]

Around the NFL, the quiet nickname for Mike Shanahan is "My Way Mike". When he decides he is going to do something in a certain way, then players or coaches or scouts in the organization have two choices:

1. Do it his way

2. Do it your way somewhere else.

I think you are seeing a bit of that showing itself in the Redskins organization at the moment...

A better question is why do we as fans get our panties in a bunch over every perceived slight or omission of respect? Kerrigan is obviously great, arguably better all-around than Rak, but he won't receive full recognition playing for such a woebegone team. If the Skins were in the playoff hunt, you can be sure Kerrigan would be near the top of the list in D-ROY discussions.
