Re: Redskin Media Bias?

When a team has a very high payroll, and makes big offseason moves every year, yet fails to improve, they will receive a great deal of criticism. That's not bias, it's journalism.

However, when the criticism precedes the performance, that's bias. When reporters (and not columnists, who are hired to opine) give the "same old Redskins" quotes without fully analysing the moves they are condemning, that's bias. Even a pattern of poor decisions (as many have concluded the Redskins have made) doesn't justify the level of scrutiny and derision we have piled on us every year.

By the way, using "opine" and "derision" in the same post means I win something, right?

Re: Redskin Media Bias?

I think there is some media bias with guys like Pastabelly, Peter King. However, for every team in the league, there are probably a few guys who like to question everything they do, and critisize some of their moves. I dont think the Redskins really have it bad or anything, some guys dont like Snyder, so they will talk bad, but who really cares. As long as there is no in league bias (refs or anythign like that) against the skins, I'll just ignore the articles if they have no real substance to them.

Re: Redskin Media Bias?

I swear the refs had SOME kind of bias last year. I flip between games at commercials and NEVER have seen teams get screwed like we did on calls.

I dont know if I would say there was a "fix", and I dont want to dwell on it; but there really were some AWFUL calls against us last year. I understand that all teams get screwed at one point or another. However, I can think of three games off the top of my head where at least one major bs call, or somtimes two, were the difference in the game. I dont know if its somthing I should complain about, as much as offer a solution for.

I was thinking this when I was watching the St. Louis Cardinals vs Atlanta Braves game the other night (i'm a cards fan). And the home plate umprie was just making rediculous, inaccurate calls, and moving the strike zone all over the place. My point here being, I think that referee's, who make poor, or inconsistent calls (more so in baseball, but that Green Bay illegal shift comes to mind) on a consistent basis over the course of a game should be fined, or have to sit out a game or somthing. I'm not trying to rob these guys of cash or anything. And if a guy makes a bad call, its gonna happen, I dont think you sould drill someone for that. However, if over the course of games, there are just inconsitent calls, or calls going one way, i think we need to take a seroius look at disiplining officals.
