He's got some value and he's just going to test the waters a bit.

Harris is the projected starter, costs next to nothing, and is quality corner. Even if we sign McQuarters, Harris is definately safe. Rufus Brown probably will not make the roster. We do have good depth at DB (with Springs, Harris, Rogers, Bowen, Lott, Clark, Prileou (sp?), and Taylor) and LB (with Arrington, Washington, Marshall, Holdman, McCune, Clemons, Smith).

And you are also right that we don't have quality depth at DL. However, Daniels is healthy (for now) and Noble should be coming along from his knee injury. So, our dline has more depth than it did last year.

Moreover, the heart of Williams' system lies in the LBs and DBs. Provided our linebackers and secondary don't falter too much with the losses of Smoot and Pierce (which it shouldn't), we'll be fine on defense.

Offense is the real question mark with the QB, WR, and TE situation uncertain. I wouldn't worry too much about the defense. I'd only start to worry if we have some major injuries to multiple players on defense. If Williams leaves, I expect wholesale changes to the defensive line since I know of no other defensive coordinator who can do so much with so little on the defensive line and the guys on the line (i.e. Daniels, Noble, Wynn) aren't getting any younger.

Don't say things like that!

I don't even want to think about the years AFTER the brain-trust breaks apart.

Re: Redskins cut DB Hall

hall wanted to coach at washington st. and his agents and friends told him to try one more year after leaving atlanta. so he signed with washington, but then grew to realize that he still wanted to coach instead of play. he said his heart wasnt in the game and wanted to leave the skins after two days of practice
