Agree. JD5 missed him on a deep out where it looked like McLaurin had 2 yards on the Giants defender. Likely a td or at least a long play. Think Terry/Deebo are going to be a dynamite combo. Great to see Noah Brown in the mix also considering his health. Offense should do big things this season. Hard to see any weaknesses and skill positions are loaded.

Offense will work out the kinks, but I’m so damn happy the defense showed up today. 6 points!

We played the run great…rushed the qb. I like the heavy rotation up front. I’m interested in seeing how much Newton played. Also interested in seeing some coverage grades.

No-huddle offense was a tough assignment in game 1, caused some problems in clock management. We’ll see a smoother and more potent offense as the season goes on and Terry is back on track. He, Deebo, Bill, Ekeler, and Ertz give 5 a great set of weapons. Fingers crossed for Thursday, but I’ll take 1-1 with no major injuries.

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants

Terry's holdout was apparent yesterday. He wasn't as involved as normal, and seemed like timing was off between he and JD5. JD looked a little off on some throws, but still had his wheels. I think that the timing issues will all come together pretty quickly.
BCM looked great. He and Ekeler will be a great combo this season, as long as Ek can stay healthy. I personally thought he should have retired last year after the 2 concussions....so I hope (not just for football sake) that he stays healthy and doesn't sustain anymore. If he goes down, Rodriguez has shown to be very capable.
D. Payne gets the gameball from me. Dude was a monster today. Back to form from what we saw from him 2/3 years ago.
Defense played great.
Penalties were way too frequent. I figured we would have a few, but it was entirely too much. That can't continue to happen. Against better teams, we will end up beating ourselves with that amount of penalties, though I do think Quinn will clean that up pretty quickly.

Overall, a great first game to build on this season.

Our defensive line is noticeably bigger, Kinlaw, Wise, and Goldman are all some serious dudes

The D look very good but it was against the G men. JD did throw a few balls a little behind the WR but those balls should have been caught. I think Payne is benifitting from the guys we brought in.

I know I’m already taking him for granted…by my goodness some of these throws…the TD to Ertz, scramble throw to Deebo across his body and the throw to Chris Moore was insane

I know he wasn’t perfect, but goodness JD5 arm talent

Totally agree. I wasn't sure at first about the Robinson trade and some of the dline moves but hard to argue after yesterday. Only 1 week but off to a strong start.

When reading up on DQ defense in the past, I thought a concern was his preference for lighter, athletic d linemen. This seems like a welcome change in order to influence the run I imagine.

I wanted to see snap counts…but seems like Eddie Goldman and Johnny got equal snaps. Whatever works and whatever the matchup gives us an edge against different styles

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants

The defense was off to a good start on all levels.. It's nice to see that we can contain Nabers after being dominated by him last year. Although I'm not going to be excited about it until we play Eagles to see if we can stop them.

The offense can be better.

Giants' Dline is beast

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants

Payne and Kinlaw were doing work. We are strong up-front.

We were sloppy as fuck. Kept them in the game. Didn't really do anything pre-season w/ the starters, and it showed.

Daniels was off a tick on tons of throws. I don't expect that to be an issue going forwards, just needs some actual game work.

DEEBO!!!

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants

But for the penalties and some throws behind receivers that JD won’t likely repeat, we should have won by 30, not 15. 432 yards of offense is no joke.

Hope we see more polish on Thursday. We will need it. The Packers looked very good yesterday.

Re: Good Bad and Ugly reaction vs Giants

Per Ben Standig,

“The Commanders sought out more big plays out of the backfield. JCM's 42-yard run was longer than any Brian Robinson carry with Washington. “

Sorry folks, B Rob had to go
