the salary cap will always go up as long as league income (tv/sponsorship contracts) continues to increase.

Or, allow each team to pay up to three players whatever they ask for and whatever the owner is willing to part with. And make their salaries exempt from the cap -- the other 50 players' salaries will be governed by a cap similar to what the current system is. That way, teams can keep their Emmitt Smiths, LaVar Arringtons, and Jerry Rices. |

Owners like Snyder and Jones are fighting the NFLPA's position because they also want less-profitable teams to get a larger share of the pie. Of course, Snyder doesn't want to give his dough over to the Cards. If the two sides cannot reach a deal, then the following year will be uncapped. In either case, it appears more and more likely that the cap will grow considerably in 2007. Thus, contrary to my previous position that we are headed for cap hell, we may ride out this storm. |

Re: IF the CBA doesn't get signed...
Apparently you all missed the article in the post a few weeks back. "'Bring on the uncapped year.' " is what all of the players are saying.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...111602208.html There will be a no cap year as I have said from the begginning. There is to much at stake for both sides that there is no way they will and can reach an agreement.

I'm not sure if I want it or not, but I certainly think an uncapped year would be interesting.

Re: IF the CBA doesn't get signed...
the skins would love it since they are heading for a problem with the cap in the next couple of years.they could front load all contracts(to safeguard against the following years cap)and basically keep all players considered core.then fill in with whom ever they desired,i can see old danny boy walking around with a woody already

Re: IF the CBA doesn't get signed...
It's not gonna happen. Too many people are making way too much money to risk having it all go up in smoke over what is small (but not insignificant) potatoes. The "haves" (IE: Redskins,Cowboys,Patriots) simply won't be able to stop the other owners from ramming through a revenue sharing deal when the time finally comes and that'll unroadblock the CBA with the players right away. The biggest issue right now is that the owners don't even agree on what to do so they certainly can't make an agreement with the players.

Actually our cap is in better shape than it has been in a couple seasons thanks to Mr. Coles. |

You are Crazy! (j/k) The hard hitting, sudden bursts, followed by lulls between plays is the reason for success. The normal game ebbs and flows, almost like a well orchestrated Ballet. That, and gambling. ![]() ![]()
