Let's say Redskins sign a few players within the next week, as far as the league knows the 'Skins will deal with the cap space next year and not this year.

This will give the Skins all season to fight against it, but then if they lose they just created a cluster****.

Ok, so on CSNWashington they have posted what the NFL League had announced...

The Management Council Executive Committee determined that the contract practices of a small number of clubs during the 2010 league year created an unacceptable risk to future competitive balance, particularly in light of the relatively modest salary cap growth projected for the new agreement’s early years. To remedy these effects and preserve competitive balance throughout the league, the parties to the CBA agreed to adjustments to team salary for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. These agreed-upon adjustments were structured in a manner that will not affect the salary cap or player spending on a league-wide basis

So if the league is announcing this, and no teams were named, and the Skins did not receive any notices from the League, is it safe to say that the Skins were not one of the teams punished or one of the teams having their CAP adjusted?

This is my point. In my 15 years of being "in the biz" I have never, ever known the NFL to give leeway on things that have to be submitted for approval. Such as a players' contract. It's either yes it's approved, or no, go back and try again. There's never "we don't approve but we'll sign off on it"

and I've never heard the NFL to approve something then come back a year or two later and say "oh although we approved it we are going to have to punish you because other teams didn't do this and it's causing a parity issue."

Simply hold an owners meeting and make a rule that says it can't be done in the future. How are they going to all of a sudden after the fact say oh we gotta fix this so everyone is happy and only 2 teams are going to pay for it?
