"This past season was easily the most important for Bulaga’s career. Coming off of consecutive season-ending injuries, he needed to prove that he could stay on the field and perform up to his peak 2011 level. To tell the story of his season you need to break it into two halves. Over the first half Bulaga graded at -0.7 overall, but after the bye in Week 9 he found his groove and turned into the Pro Bowl level talent he was prior to his injuries. From Weeks 10-17 his +12.6 grade ranked ninth out of all tackles and topped all right tackles. His 97.1 Pass Blocking Efficiency rating over that time ranked sixth overall. This second-half run was exactly the finish he needed to propel him towards free agency. Bryan Bulaga struggled as a rookie and then turned into a Pro-Bowl level tackle in 2011. He then suffered two lost seasons via injury before finally hitting his groove again the second half of last season. If Bulaga can continue to stay healthy he has the ability to be a Top 10-15 tackle, and perhaps even more. He is also one of the few who plays well both in the run game and in pass protection."

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Long is 30, has had two ACL tears, is being released one year into a four year contract, and has not played a full season since 2010.
Moving on. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
As much as I would love to solve the RT position, 8-9m for a RT would make him the highest paid true RT in the league if im not mistaken. If he can switch to LT and still perform at a high level, the security it would provide (plus TW is a FA in a year) might be worth it. But if he cant slide over to LT and play effectively, then no I wouldnt.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
The biggest problem is simple - it's hard to find GOOD tackles, left or right. I wanted Moses, and might have hope for him, but a Lis Franc, for a RT that depends on planting on his foot. Gonna be hard to get him going, and he didn't show a lot last year. So that means we need to get another guy. Maybe we get him in the second. I dunno, but what I think is true is that we need, without question, a starting RT, a starting Safety, and a starting NT, I think you hope to get 2 of the 3 in rounds 1 and 2, but you are not getting all 3 in the draft this year.
If we don't get BB I guess I am ok, but I think you need to bite the bullet on one of those positions, and pay the bucks for a "sure thing" (go ahead and kill me) |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
I'm curious to see what we pay Paea.
Otherwise, so far we have stayed out of the early-process high-priced FA bidding, which is a good thing. The first FA wave often seems to bring the least value.

Also, if we are going to switch to 1 gap responsibility on defense, then getting a big hulking NT is less important. If we do switch to 1 gap, I think Paea and/or Baker can do pretty good at that. Thats less about attracting double teams and more about getting your gap filled and then pushing into the backfield to disrupt things. |

Yes, Moses will perhaps only be ready by end of 2015 or early 2016. Problem with drafting another OT -- it gives up on Moses after one year, and then you have three OT for only two spots - seems wasteful. Really would be better to get a vet x 1-2 years, just too bad we missed on the legit veteran RTs so far. Compton is possible but will disappoint. |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
I'd rather have three who can play than just one. Draft a tackle of needed. Competition will only make Mosses better if he can be. Trading a tackle that has shown something that is easy.
We need depth as well. Trent hasn't been the healthiest and he could get a game breather if he needs one it would be nice to know he can.
