9 games in 2012 0 games in 2013 is NOT enough. You don't spend 8mil/yr on a guy that oft injured. When good teams pass up on their own players, it should tell you something. Follow their lead.

Jake Long, T for the St. Louis Rams at NFL.com I would not pay Long $8 million, however if he has played 12-14 games I would be interested, at the right price |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
FA Signing Day is finally here. I'm wondering if the Redskins will surprise us today by signing someone we haven't even discussed here. Or, will it take more time for our FA plan to develop? We're about to find out.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
All I know about him is that he is said to be a good run blocker but he gave up seven sacks last season. He's young enough at 27.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
A comparison:
D.JAX 2010 PHI 14 2011 PHI 15 2012 PHI 11 2013 PHI 16 2014 WSH 15 71/80 = 89% BULAGA 2010 GB 16 2011 GB 12 2012 GB 9 2013 GB 0 2014 GB 15 52/80 = 65% J.LONG 2010 MIA 16 2011 MIA 14 2012 MIA 12 2013 STL 15 2014 STL 7 64/80 = 80% To the folks who want to spend $8-9M on Bulaga, I get it. RT is a position of need on which we have skimped in the past. If BB can stay injury free, having him as a bookend to and backstop for TW would be worth some good coin. My biggest concern is his injury history. Two years ago, the Rams paid big bucks to a former 27 year old first round pick with an injury history. Yesterday, with the guy rehabbing an ACL, and the Rams facing a big cap hit and they cut him. Their replacement, the second pick of last year's draft. If they sign Bulaga, so be it. I think they should give Moses the chance to develop. With McCourty off the table at safety (the position where I would be willing to overspend), I am not adamantly opposed to paying BB. I just would not be thrilled either.

Apparently, J. Long is contemplating retirement.

So I'm thinking that signing an older FA RT or making a trade for an older RT would be OK as a short term band-aid. I'm OK with Compton as a awing tackle but, unlike you, I'm not optimistic about Moses developing. That's why I'd like to see the Redskins draft another young OT if they pick up a veteran.

Long has been a durable player in his career, 2014 was the only season he missed significant time. I definitely would not advocate for 8M per year on him but you can take a look, for sure.
