Lol apologizing for what...colt and Alex Smith aren’t the answer at qb.

Alex Smith trade and extention will haunt this team.

Better use one of the first couple draft picks for a qb

Are you shitting me? You see no possible way him being thrown into that huge game after years of standing on the sidelines, on a short week on the road in Dallas, and zero practice might have had anything to do with his performance? Also you see no decline in our defense and run game over the last couple weeks that might have something to do with the loss? Alex Smith would have won last night without a shadow of a doubt in your mind so much so to the point that we should apologize publicly for ever doubting that he was the reason we were cruising along at 6-3 and now we cannot get out of our own way? Brother please.

Not a short practice week, zero practices.

Colt had had zero practices with the first team since becoming the QB.

Everybody needs to take a breath.

He might suck and be the worst ever, BUT the situation so far might not be indicative of what the team may be.

We'll see how Colt does these last 6 games. But if Colt plays really well, and clearly plays better than Smith, it's going to make the trade look even worse than it already does.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.

Where the Redskins really misjudged the situation is they didn't have the Chiefs talent on offense. Smith just isn't good enough to play with the average guys that we have and put points up and move the offense. Cousins stalled out in the red zone but at least he moved the offense for the most part. Smith can't and really didn't unless AP was running the ball. He needs elite playmakers and a running game where Cousins didn't. That is the difference in the two.

The big difference has been RZ scoring, Kirk sucked at it because after his first read down there he would just eat the sack or throw it away. Alex moves around better and gets guys open. Before Sunday he had 9td and 0ints in the RZ. Very good.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.

Forget the stats, we are 6-3, if due to a horrific injury AS' tenure is done, then I have respect for him and the trade. We will never know how it might have played out through the season, and if we ended 9-7 looking at the playoffs with Smith as the yearlong starter, then it would have been a failed trade.

But he did exactly what everyone said he would do (except this past Sunday) which was not make mistakes, play for the time of possession/game manager wins and keep the team looking forward. No other qb we could have signed would have done that.

All that said, if Colt does show he can run the offense effectively, and we go 5-2 or better, then that also will call the trade into question, because the team has to know exactly who Colt is after all these years. And we could have drafted a qb talent in the 3rd without raising eyebrows.

Remember, colts here because of jay love for the guy. Instead of developing a young qb, jay wanted colt...not good

Fire jay and who comes here? Not many. Nobody wants this stress, chaos and bullshit. We are the least desirable job in the game.

You know who is to blame is Bruce Allen and dan Snyder...we can roll call the qb decisions from these 2 from the last ten years and there is a clear path of poor decisions. Alex is a major disappointment this year...with the injury there is very little reason to believe his game will get better.

It’s not logical to believe a guy coming off a major leg injury at 35 who has struggled to lead an offense...will wake up and lead this team effectively.

It makes zero sense to believe that...none.

So we need to deal with reality

I agree with this. Kudos to Smith, we won games because he was effective not turning the ball over and making just enough plays to win games.

It appears we're screwed for at least next season though because his cap hit is too high to bring in someone else, unless we want to throw a rookie qb in there and have Smith be the backup. No vet can come here with the cap hit Smith carries next year.

I agree with this. The salary cap will mean the team is forced to draft a QB and either use him next year or Colt /Alex until the rookie is ready.

The real question is how much the Redskins will invest in draft pics to get a top notch QB draft pick.
