Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.

I agree with Ramseyfan, people are just saying their opinion, its no big deal. We are all thankful for how far we have gotten, and no one is hating. That being said, it is no big deal if someone says something negative about the team, most of you guys are being very uptight. Most of the people on this forum love the Redskins, and that is why we are so passionate. We are trying to think of ways to improve. Only reason I am upset with the offense is because I love the Skins, and I realize everyone is upset that people are bashing the SKins, I am not bashing them, I am just another very passionate fan like the rest of you guys.

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.

I don't think anyone here has blamed Gibbs. Yeah many people blame Brunell. I am sure the worst thing I heard was Gibbs to get Mike Martz and it seemed everyone at the other site agreed. I don't think that we should say that everything is hunky dorry though because we did lose. That doesn't mean we underachieved but the same team next year is not gonna lead us to the Super Bowl.

I do not want TJ here any more - even though i still think he has potential lol we always have. I do not think Patten is the answer at WR. I think our team was MUCH MUCH MUCH better with Patten as he was a real distraction but our passing offense sucks people. IT really does. Look at the numbers it sucks. We only got 91% of the yards the opposing defense ususually gave up. THat means on average we gave the oppossing defenses good days through the air. OUr passing offense is flawed. We need another WR.

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.

I blame Dallas and all they stand for. If they had lost to the Panthers in Week 16, instead of getting that crappy call late in the game, we would have clinched a playoff spot. This would have allowed our guys to rest in week 17 instead of having to play a tough divisional game. The guys gave there all yesterday and you could see that they were tired. Portis, Brunell, Moss all were flat for long parts of the game.Damn you Dallas! also damn the NFL! having the bye in week 4? meant we had spent all our petrol tickets by the end of the year.

What hurts is the fact that Seattle did not play that well yesterday and we could have beaten them.

It was a fun season!!! I blame no one but you have to ask yourself why there was no back up for R. Brown when he went down! Raymer what was that! Anyway we have some work to do!!!

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.

The only place where I lay blame is on ourselves as a team, I mean think of it this way, if we had beat the chargers and raiders at home and still won out we would have ben 12-4, giving us the #2 seed, a week bye, and only 1 game on the road for the playoffs. That is where I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach because we could have beaten those 2 teams. I think that we had a great year, it was a long time (6 years) to feel this way and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Many people are overlooking the fact that we are moving forward as a team. Yeah, we are missing a few pieces yet but they will come.

Also, Patten may or may not be the answer as our #2 WR, the thing is we dont know and will not know until next year. I say this because until teams started to double cover Moss, Moss was the go to guy. We really never had a chance to to have Moss, Patten, Cooley, Sellers, Portis, and even Royal in games where Gibbs knew that opposing D's were going to double cover Moss. I would like to think that later in the season Patten would have proven his worth, like when teams knew that #89 had to be double covered, or he would make them pay...

Another point, did anyone else notice that our offense lost a step after Thomas went down? I am not trying to say that Ray Brown did bad for us, he did extreamly well for being 43 and playing guard in the NFL, where most of the guys that he lined up against were still shiting in there diapers when he was in his prime. But lets face facts football is a violent sport and Brown is 43 playing at one of the sports most violent postitions. I commend Ray Brown for his effort, courage, and will and I am damn sure glad that he was on our team, like someone else mentioned Cory Raymer, what was that!!! Injuries are part of the game, but with a healthy Thomas I think we beat seattle.

I agree with you on Patten. I also think it's a bit ridiculous how the big complaint about this offense is no "credible #2 receiving threat." We had the #2 WR in the entire NFL this season in #89. He was a measly 80 yards behind Steve Smith. I would say that clearly Santana Moss being double covered or "shut down" did not hurt his production in any way if he manages to be the #2 guy in the league. The problems run a bit deeper or at least more complex than simply having a real #2 guy. Sure it would help, but what do you expect is going to happen - add a #2 threat and everything is magically solved? Arizona with their two top ten WRs sure didn't do well this season. St. Louis didn't make the playoffs and they have to excellent WRs. Hell, the Colts with Harrison and Wayne (arguably the best tandem in the league right now) just got knocked out of the playoffs.

The "magic bullet" isn't a #2 WR. Hell, there IS no magic bullet.

Another good point with Ray Brown as well. I am definitely not one for singling one guy out to place all the blame, and Ray did an amazing job all things considered. But we did seem to lack that tough, "slobberknocker" kind of spark on offense after Randy Thomas went down. Our offense seemed to be really taking off up until that injury. Is that the SOLE reason we lost? Of course not. I would say it was a major contributing factor, and just goes to show how important the offensive line is.

I'm all for getting Patten back or signing a good #2 WR. I'm all for signing any quality player at any position. I think the BEST improvements can be made to the offensive line, whether it's a choice signing here and there, or just letting the guys get healthy and play as a unit longer.

It all starts with the offensive line. We saw yesterday that Peyton Manning looks like a little girl when his line is getting scorched. We see teams like the Chiefs and Broncos plug in virtually any running back or quarterback and have great success simply because their O-lines are fantastic.

It sure ain't a glory position playing down in the trenches, but it's where every offensive play starts and it's a hell of alot more important than signing some big name WR or TE or whatever other quick fix people are looking for.

If the 2 calls went our way in the fist Bucs game, we would have been the #2 seed. Those blown calls ended up costing us much more than just that game, it also cost us the division title.

IN GIBBS I TRUST!!!

Same thing I've said before, since and during his 2nd tenure.

Why would any doubt?

Anyone noticed the 'team' concept since he's been back?
God bless Joe GIbbs!

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.

I was really disappointed sat. But I felt coach gibbs and our defense took us about as far as we could go this year. For what he has done via FA and trades it has been incrediable, almost a completely different team. He knows where the weak spots are(WR,QB,TE) He said it sat. trying to keep his core guys together is no. one priority. I believe he'll find a WR and open up QB position. The team is within striking dist. now. Two years ago we weren't even close

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.

It's over....the skins had a FANTASTIC season and are very close to the prize. Adding a #2 and #3 wideout to take some heat off Cooley and Moss will be MAJOR upgrades to the offense.

I also want to give some mad props to Ade Jimoh. The guy brought the heat on ST Saturday and is a valuable player to this team! I personally don't like him as a CB, but he is becoming a very good team player and deserves some credit.

This team will be playing to win home field advantage next year....it was clear in Gibbs press conference that was one of the goals next season. Home field for the skins is HUGE and is where the true 12th man resides, not in Qwest Field, but in Landover, MD!!!

Hail, the promise land is VERY NEAR!!!!

I have to give props to Ade Jimoh too. For all of the crap that we gave him over the past two season, he really showed that the coaches knew what they were doing when they decided to keep him.
