Re: Brian Mitchell on Redskins fans

I just wanted to mention one reason why there are so many cowboys fans in the reason. Many forget that until the late fifites(?) the redskins had no blacks on the team. I beleive they were the last team in the league to integrate. As such, many black area fans of the time rooted for whoever was playing the skins that week. Its only logical that many would become fans of hated rivals like the cowboys and eagles. I am not saying its the only reason, because i am sure there are alot of redskins fans in texas, but it is one that has been brought to my attention in the past.

Re: Brian Mitchell on Redskins fans

I was at that game and the stadium was full of rabid, raving, riotous, rightous Redskins fans and damned few cowboys fans. It was one of the very few times since 1999 that FedEx was as loud and as rocking as RFK. Vibrating stands are a beautiful feeling.

But, Mitchell has a point. Up to last season, there were a LOT of NFC East fans in the stands. But that's a function of money, not loyalty. FedEx sells out every game by season ticket holders who are either true fans or ticket brokers. In the Turner years, a true fan was faced with the prospect of using an $80 ticket to see a team with a less than 50% chance of winning, or selling the ticket and watching on TV. So a lot of Cowboy/Eagles/Giants fans scalped tickets. Brokers sell to anybody. My company had season tickets and a couple of times before 2005, couldn't get any customers to go to the games. So those tickets went back to brokers - who sold them to the other guys.

In other cities I lived in, when the local team was bad for a long time, fans cancelled their season tickets. That doesn't happen here. People kept their tickets for the return to glory. I think that's next season. FedEx will be rocking from August to January. You watch & see.

Thing is I was at th Giant -Cowgirl game last year in NY and it was the same there .So 90,000 and out of that 10,000 fans of the other team,as long as your team is kicking ass it's fine .

Mitchell will say just about anything to challenge the fans and the team to do better. Even if it's true.

Re: Brian Mitchell on Redskins fans

I didn't hear what was said but I find all this a load of Sh*t. I have gone to many Redskins games over the years, mostly at Fed X, and I dont get what the hell he is saying. Name any stadium in the NFL that sells out 90K+ everyweek.......thats right, there isn't one. And to think there were more Dallas fans at the game than redskins fans, that is just plain wrong. I was there and had to scream as load as I could for the guy next to me to hear what I was saying. Maybe he is just trying to get us all hyped up for next season, but to say we are not a football town, that is down right freakin nuts. Whether its RFK, or Fed X (the big Ugly) all of the Redskins games have been sold out for many many many years. If its not a football town, how come the Redskins are the richest sports franchise in the world. how come we are the only billion dollar sports team. How come our merchandice is one of the biggest sellers. sorry BMitch, I like you, but that is totally inaccurate.

My yelling lines were so big it was hitting the Cowboy fans' heads in front of me. That night was definitely a legendary night.

Re: Brian Mitchell on Redskins fans

Yeah the whole "not a football town" thing is pretty funny. So if it's not a football town then PLEASE tell me what kind of town it is when EVERYTHING must bow down to the Redskins. Basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, or whatever else may go on here doesn't hold a candle to the Skins. While they were a losing franchise they still sold out ! When he was in Philli and New York "The Big Jack" was still selling out, he knew because he came here to play.

Re: Brian Mitchell on Redskins fans

Maybe he's right about there being THAT many Cowboy fans at the game. They must have stayed and cleaned up because there wasn't a Cowboy fan in sight for days after that clinic !
