Do you have to pay per pound to keep them at all? When I was in Hawaii we had to pay a fee to keep some of them.

In Virginia we have to have a fishing license and for some fish there is a limit per person. Like for flounder they have a minimun size of 16 1/2 inches and a maximum of 6 fish per person. Most days we do not catch our limits we just had a good day.

Did you know they're considering injecting trout with creatine to make sport fishing more "challenging".

Re: The Zidane Incident

International sports are interesting. Countries like France, Brazil, Argentina Germany, and Italy put all of their athletes into one sport, Soccer. There's a some basketball going on there too, but mostly it's soccer. So it's no wonder their teams are so good at it.

Then if you go to Cuba, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic, baseball is pretty much the only game in town. And of course they're great at it.

And then there's Kenya, and pretty much all they do is run marathons. So no wonder they always win the Boston Marathon.

Here in the States we have baseball, football, basketball, golf, soccer, swimming, track & field, hockey, and a whole slew of other sports. All of our athletes spread out into different sports. So internationally, the US teams always seem disappointing because we can't match up with the countries who breed only soccer players (France), or who breed only baseball players (Cuba), or who breed only Hockey players (Canada). You see our record in international play and it's easy to start to think, "hey, the US sucks at sports." But if we put all our athletes into one or two sports, we'd DOMINATE.

If you want to look at the US dominance in sports in a fair manner, take a look at the Olympic medal count each year. We're always at the top, especially in the summer games.

Imagine if football were an international sport?

Team USA:
QB Peyton Manning, Tom Brady
RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Shawn Alexander
WR Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Steve Smith, Marvin Harrison, Santana Moss, Terrell Owens
TE Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Alge Crumpler
OT Walter Jones, Orlando Pace, Chris Samuels, Willie Roaf
OG Will Shields, Steve Hutchinson, Randy Thomas, Alan Fanaca
C Olin Kreutz, Jeff Saturday

We'd pwn everybody. It'd be ridiculous. We have so many of our nation's best athletes in the NFL, a sport which no other countries really play. We're still the dominant sports nation. It's just we're the jack of all trades, and masters at only a few.

The world simply doesn't play American Football, if they did the same thing that's currently happening in the NBA would be happening in the NFL. I mean, the US NBA team is no longer dominant in the world stage.

Right that's my point. We'd dominate American football right now, because no other countries play American football. We used to dominate basketball, until other countries started playing and focusing on that as the only national sport. If other countries played American football and that's all they played, they'd kill us.

Right now, countries like Argentina can line up and whip our ass in Basketball and Soccer. For good reason, those are pretty much the only sports they play. We play tons of sports, our kids go into all kinds of other things. They may be able to beat us in those two, but line Argentina up against us in Football, Hockey, Swimming, Golf, Tennis, Track & Field, or Bowling and we'd kick their ass.

If their kids started getting into football, hockey, swimming, golf, tennis, and track & field, their talent in Soccer and Basketball would dwindle. Then it would probably be a pretty even match in all sports. It all depends on which sport your kids get funneled into.

When I was walking into work on Friday I was thinking that it was great football weather. I said that later in the day and my dad and sister both said, "so did I," at the same time. Apparently everyone around here is getting antsy.

I'm already planning my vacation around football so as to minimize the potential of missing pre-season games.

Wow! I should just lock this thread right now because I don't know that there will be a better post than that. That's hilarious
