Re: Apparently we will never win a SB.
" TomKat's appearance at the Minnesota-Washington game exemplifies why Snyder will never win a championship. Never, ever, never. That is the most stone cold lock of a football guarantee ever made."
What?? Sportswriters who make predictions like that have some telepathic link to the future are just stupid. It's called how to set yourself up to look like an idiot at some point. Overall sounds like a 2-page rant by a guy who's mad that Snyder has made more money than he ever will. I never understood bashing the rich - Snyder, Bill Gates, whoever - just because they're rich. They've suceeded at a level that few people ever will and have obviously accomplished a lot - why bash 'em because they've succeeded?

apparently you and i werent on the planet earth together when snyder took over the redskins. allow me to refresh your memory. Why the late jack kent cooke didnt leave this team to his son still boggles my mind. Ok snyder assumed control late in 1999 which it was too late for him to screw with team but anyway for those of you who dont remember that was the last year we won the divison and had a home playoff game against the lions which we won and went on to play tampa in tampa and had a chance to win the game at the end but there was a bad snap and the kick was never attempted. In the offseason that year i think he signed deion sanders, bruce smith, mark carrier, and jeff george. Deion, mark, and jeff had past the prime of their careers and so for that matter had bruce smith. I think we finished 7-9 that year. The following season after losing to the cowboys here tore turner a new one and shortly there after fired turner. we were 7-6 at that point and had shot at the playoffs even after the dallas loss. Then came marty who wanted total control of the team which snyder gave him and yes we started 0-5 but i think we ended up 8-8 and we were really turning a corner. But that arrogant asshole, who knows nothing about football couldnt handle not having his hands on the team and couldnt leave well enough alone and fired marty and brought that arrogant ass steve spurrier here and we know what happened with that. So let me fast forward to now he brought gibbs back in here and he(gibbs) has turned the thing around. I realize we had a pretty good season last year and had we had a couple more weapons we might have beat seattle. But the free wheeling and throwings millions at free agents didnt work in 2000 and the verdict is still out on this season. Dan Synder has not business doing anything for the redskins but signing checks and cheering his ass off from the owners box. let the football people make the football decisions and let the owners make owner decisions. Period. Dan Snyder may have all the money in the world but he knows nothing about running a football team. I bet the late JKC is rolling over in his grave at what snyder has done to this pround organization. I am redskin fan through and through so dont get any of this wrong. My point is Dan Snyder is only good at one thing signing the paychecks period. Not making any personnel decisions. I am not saying all of the free agent signings this offseason were all his doings but he threw the money at them. Money cant buy everything. It cant buy unity and it cant buy a superbowl.

Re: Apparently we will never win a SB.
oh....my....god...reading that was like listening to the MicroMachines guy in the 80s.
You make a lot of good points, but ignore the fact that Snyder appears to be doing exactly what you suggest is the only thing he is good at - writing checks. I don't think anyone would argue that Snyder tried to micromanage the organization in his first years here. Now, however, Gibbs is in charge of personnel, and Danny-boy writes the checks. Snyder still has some say, but Gibbs is calling the shots. Again, you point out a lot of things that were legitimate gripes about Snyder three years ago, but it's a much different power structure now.

Re: Apparently we will never win a SB.
But Snyder does make the owner decisions, and the football people (Gibbs, Ceratto, Saunders, Williams, Riddick, Mattyk, whoever else) make the football decisions. Gibbs and co. never have to wonder will they get what they want because Snyder gives them whatever they feel they need to win.
He has admitted he made mistakes in the past and he's matured and changed his ways. So I don't know if you're saying after one game that we can call our offseason acquisitions busts and just blame Snyder or if you're still upset about something that happened 6 years ago. Either way, ask yourself this. Would you rather he just sat on his ass and didn't put any efforts into the team and said no to repeated requests from the coaching staff to open his checkbook?

Re: Apparently we will never win a SB.
No man you wrong. Snyder has the final vote on personnel decisions. He can overrule gibbs. You really think gibbs put his stamp of approval on all of these free agents we aquired this offseason? I beg to differ. But that is just my humble opinion. He is doing more than just signing the checks.

Re: Apparently we will never win a SB.
one final thought and i am done with snyder bashing. I am not saying these free agents we have gotten are busts at least not after one game. I hope they all go to the pro bowl honestly but snyder cant hide from his track record. Maybe i am wrong but to say he is a great owner is a pretty big stretch.

I mean the guy is making the effort to put the best product on the field, at least I believe so. And I think others would agree. No one will be satisfied until he wins multiple Super Bowls, even then it won't be enough for most.
