Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

everything on offense today was because of Portis. The o-line provides holes as always, but its Clinton who knows how to maximize them. Clinton set up Brunell, Betts, and a well rested defense as those 1st half stats kept showing.

I think Betts should've been a choice.

I voted for Brunell, and would have anyway, but great game by both RBs. The O-line made it possible for Brunell, but they also got a crapload of penalties.

You can't set an NFL record and not get some props.

The MVP was Al Saunders no ifs ands or butts. He called the perfect game today.

On the field it was Portis, no question.

Too many penalties by the O-line today, and I think you're forgetting they were playing the worst defense in the league.
Portis is the man that makes the whole thing go. Dude is tough. But Clinton, please don't hold the ball out unless you know you're going to get into the end zone.
Now, if the O-line plays like that next week, I'll happily change my vote.

He had complete control of the ball when he extended it. What's the problem?

it's gotta be Portis not only for production but also for the energy and heart he adds to the offense. Brunell did a great job of managing the game and getting the passes to his playmakers, but almost all of his passes were within ten yards of the line of scrimmage. I would give the nod to the o-line if not for them accounting for almost half a dozen penalties.

I go with Portis. He's the missing ingredient. When he's in, defenses must play the Redskins differently.

Brunell gets a lot of credit, too. He had a perfect day and should get credit for the accomplishment after all the heat he's been under.

Go Skins!

Definitely Portis. As others mentioned, the O-line played against the worst D in the universe. They did fine, but each guy on the line still managed to get a holding penalty. That's not going to fly against a better D. That said, the O line did manage to make Betts look like an unstoppable force...

no kidding, I was screaming at the TV for portis to cut left ... oh well. Lloyd coulda helped by blocking his man outta bounds ... a good block though nonetheless.

After the game he said he was protecting his left shoulder by not cutting back.

Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

No way I can vote for the offensive line with all the damn holding calls. And I think Saunders was game-planning to get the ball out of Brunell's hands with short passes ASAP. I don't think he's confident that the line can protect Brunell well enough for 7-step drops and to get off long bombs. The line didn't let up a sack this weekend, but that was more because Brunell got rid of the ball so quickly. Once I see the line holding up on blitzes and giving Brunell enough time to go deep to Moss, then I'll applaud them.

The run blocking was stellar though. Props for that.

It's Brunell. Portis and Betts both had great games, Brunells accuracy was the key.
