Basically Czabe just said your playing poorly and would you ever pull yourself out of the lineup. I don't think that was out of line. But I can see why Brunell was offended by it. As it turns out Brunell didn't have to pull himself out cause Gibbs benched him the next day. And Campbell looks so much better in the pocket. He made plays in his 1st start that Brunell has not made all year. It's like night and day. |

Cry me a river for Brunell, he was getting millions to get a job done, I noticed it did not take him long to cash in on Redskins fever and do radio spots and other ads to make some extra cash. If you are going to be in the limelight, and take all the big $$$, then you better be able to handle the heat. Like it was pointed out, he would not last 15 seconds with the New York, Boston, or Philadelphia media.

In order for a particular media outlet to get results they need cooperation from the team, and if you ask stupid questions that are only a cheap attempt to provoke an angry response the team will shun you. A better question would have been" How do you rate your performance" or " Is there is reason why you are struggling such as you health" or how about "what do you think it is going to take for your play to improve in the coming games" I used to think Czaban did some good work, but last Monday on the radio he took some cheap shots that were total bull like "The return to Camelot has failed". So even though Gibbs had had more success than any coach since himself, the whole Gibbs era is a bust, according to Czaban.

Re: Anyone know what happened to Czaban on Sportsnet?
Of course MB is not going to telll his coach to pull him out of the starting job. No pro athlete would ever ask his coach to do that and if he did he'd get killed in the press and rightfully so.
Czab was asking a question to see how MB answered, he knew the answer but wanted to hear how MB answered. I'm sure everyone here has asked a question they know the answer to but wanted to hear how the person answered the question in order to gain insight into how that person thinks. I think that is what we as fans want, insight into how these players are thinking. |

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you handle things!

I like Czaban. Yes I know he is into shock commentary but it can be entertaining. And he is more of an entertainer than journalist. While I think his questions to Brunell were a bit over the line--so what? Brunell is a high profile player who has to be adept at handling the blitz, both by linebackers and the media.

Re: Anyone know what happened to Czaban on Sportsnet?
Sorry but I'm not interested in questions that I already know the answer to. His questioning of Brunell had one intention, to piss him off. Mission accomplished I guess. That's not professional journalism in my opinion.
What some may think of as being hard hitting or shocking I think it's just immature. |

Re: Anyone know what happened to Czaban on Sportsnet?
I dont believe Czab considers himself a journalist (him and Andy have discussed this many times on their radio show) he considers himself, like NYCSkins says, an entertainer or sports talk show host not a journalist. Bram Weinstein & Jason LaConfora are a couple of the journalists that cover the skins. They have a totally different job than Czab.

It's just a difference of opinion in the end. I'm not a fan of these talk show hosts that are basically fans in host's clothing. What's next? 'Extreme' radio? |

Re: Anyone know what happened to Czaban on Sportsnet?
I agree the question was meant to irk Brunell but considering the state of media openess the Skins have maybe ruffling feathers and stirring things up needs to happen more. I am sick and tired of the same old "blah blah blah blah not really saying anything at all blah blah blah" BS from the Skins. I love my man Gibbs but he says nothing and the players follow right along." And Snyder's paranoid control of Wash media is totlly self serving and does nothing to actually help the team. Just freaking tired ouf it.
