Re: Are a we playoff team?
we need better play calling on defense. why are we not blitzing more? put some pressure on the quarterback and not give him so much time to stand there and find the open reciever... yes we are a playoff team but, we need to get healthy, stop dropping passes, play a more physical style defense, and number 1.) close games out that we are leading at the half...... this could of been our third loss that we were leading at the half.

Re: Are a we playoff team?
12th there is absolutely no way we will beat New England if we play offense like we did today. I know the Cards are a rising team with a pretty good defense, but there's no excuses for just how close we came to losing. We needed a lot of breaks today and I definitely saw that trademark second half collapse by our offense again. It's not the defense's fault that the offense goes 3 and out the majority of the time and leaves them on the field for way too long.
That said, we are not a playoff team. Our defense is very good, but when you can't support them on offense and you leave them on the field for way too long, i.e. today and the Giants game, they get tired and start playing poorly. This season reminds me of 2004 again, in the sense that we are getting great defensive play but we can't do jack shit on offense to help them out. Jason Campbell is a young quarterback and he simply needs the running game to help him out at this stage in his development right now. We can't run the ball because the majority of our offensive line is injured, teams know we aren't gonna do a lot to the right. This ties into my theory that the offense goes as the offensive line goes, we have too many injuries on the offensive line, and we are seeing the result with poor offensive play. If we were playing a good team today we would've lost this game easily. I know some fans are gonna be all "well we won so who cares whether or not we played poorly". We have a tough schedule and if we play like this against a good team we are gonna lose a lot of games. This also doesn't seem like a problem that's gonna be fixed easily. If this continues throughout the season we aren't gonna do anything this year. One more thing lol. We were playing some serious prevent defense at the end and as a result it allowed Warner and the Cards to get into field goal range. Why defenses continue to play prevent at the end is beyond me. I've never seen it work. It's designed to take away the deep ball but honestly NFL teams are just as content to take the short stuff and move the ball down the field one play at a time instead of throwing deep.

Re: Are a we playoff team?
Also, from a practical standpoint, we're looking at being the sick-man of the division (again). Cowboys probably keep best record in the NFC. Giants are the real deal now - high powered O w/ a D as effective as ours. The Eagles have the ability to turn almost anything around w/ McNabb and Westbrook and their D. We could very well go 1 for 6 or 2 for 6 in the NFC east. That adds 4 to 5 losses onto our guaranteed loss next week (NE) and we're looking at best case scenario of 9-7 or 8-8 on the season. And that's only possible if we don't give up another game we're supposed to win this season.

Re: Are a we playoff team?
Here's the deal.
We will only make the playoffs if some other team screws up. The skins have not really been outplayed by anyone all year. In fact, they gave away 2 critical NFC games, NY and GB. You should not be a legitimate playoff team if you are giving games away. We are lucky when the Skins tried their very hardest to lose a third today but didn't. This is not a team that puts teams away with leads. Our 2nd half adjustments just plain suck offensively. What did we do with a lead these games?....you got it....we went into a shell and hoped the clock expired. We only won today because the cardinals coaching staffs were idoits on the 2 pt conversion... We are not a "winning" team. We basically only win when the other team "loses" the game. (except for Detroit) We are still a 7-9 team, 9-7 if we are lucky....get ready for some losses. Our offensive line just sucks....worst in years....I sure hope Randy Thomas gets his butt back sooner....either that or we need to make some serious changes on the right side of the line.

I will take every mistake our competition gives us....since we are currently not strong enough to earn a win on our own merit.

Re: Are a we playoff team?
No, we're not a playoff team with this offense. I honestly think Gibbs has a contract with NFL's Game of the Week because it seems as if they're intentionally making these games close. Excpect to see us on the show yet again....

Re: Are a we playoff team?
I gotta agree about the second half adjustments, or lack thereof. We go into the locker room with a lead and everyone's all, oh all we gotta do is let the clock run for another 30 minutes and we win! But the opponent goes into their locker room, and is all, they are doing this this and this correctly, lets fix those problems and force them to beat us in other ways, and then they come out and execute and we're just like, wtf? Why isn't it working anymore?
I know that's not really what happens but honestly that's what feels like is happening. Gibbs said at the end of the first half that he was happy with the team's play, the only negative was the pick by Calvin Pace. If I were the head coach I would've been extremely pissed about our team's play on offense in the entire first half. The moral of this game is, we won because of the turnovers. At least we can do something right for once, if this was 2006 we would've lost this game because we couldn't force turnovers worth a shit last year. Sean Taylor should be getting some serious props, he's leading the league in interceptions right now, but should one of the other players that have 4 interceptions get another one then he'll be tied. But who seriously would've thought that ST would be leading the league in picks right now? He's having easily his best season as a pro.

Re: Are a we playoff team?
The Cardinals are a pretty good team. Look, I'd like to say that we made the plays when it counted...which was true up until the onside kick. After that play, we were lucky we didn't get a win stolen from us. Gregg Williams strategic playcalling in a unique situation was about as assinine as Saunders' playcalling is every third and short (three steps, throw quick to no one in particular).
I didn't think the Skins played especially bad today, but they didn't play especially well either. All you can say about the end of the game is that it was a crazy situation...and we ended up winning. We forced three turnovers and that is why we won today. No other reason.
