You wont find another Sean Taylor. We can't expect that from anyone. Our defense now is going to turn. We need to find another building block, but to find another Taylor is not going to happen. But damn we were blessed to have him as a Redskin!!!!and forever be a Redskin!

Players Like ST just are not in each draft. If there is a Player even close I say pick him. That being said it's our O and D lines that need a look at in this draft. If it's a high pick move down and get more picks and get some one that can find talent not just in the first two rounds but through out the draft!

Re: sorry to think this but...replacing sean taylor

I'm surprised, in a wr thread there's talk of free agents.

No one here has mentioned any potential free agent safeties.

I think pending free agency pickups, our needs in the draft are: DL, OL, WR, safety, in that order. We're deeper at safety than DL or OL. Granted, other than Landry no one is outstanding but DoughtY & Prioleau are serviceable.

Who knows, maybe Springs stays & they convert him?

yes, as the season's gone on our d-line seems less able to put pressure on a consistent basis. Carter is always good for a qb hurry or sack, but he can't be the only one.

I think that has more to do with issues in coverage. Rogers out, Taylor, Smoot in and out each week, Springs nicked up and personal issues, etc.

Just my opinion but I really think you guys are really discounting Doughty...
He's no Sean Taylor but then ST was a supernova anyway, a once in a lifetime player...All we need is a decent starter I think Reed fills that role nicely...the schemes can be changed to play to Doughty's strengths and weaknesses just like they did with Sean...We've got some outstanding young players in Landry, McIntosh, Rogers, Blades, etc...

Our priorities should be the O&D-line, then the O&D-line, then the O&D-line...oh and did I mention the O&D-line?

I'd love to see him prove me wrong but I really don't think that Doughty is the answer.

The 2 are so co-dependent it's hard to tell at times. Since you brought it up, maybe the coverage has been the bigger difference. We did start losing as soon as ST got hurt in the Philly game.

I do agree that Doughty isn't a long term answer. I think if it comes down to a decision between d-line & saftey they will pick the best player, just like last year w/LL.

Re: sorry to think this but...replacing sean taylor

yea i totally agree. our biggest need is d-line. a replacement for taylor we can draft later in a later round. on saftie that really looked goood to me was that safty out of Hawaii.... i cant remember his name at the moment but he seems like an option that we could draft later in the draft.

i agree with the majority of the poeple on here in saying that we should draft chris long to devople a stronger pass rush.

i don't know matty, it looks to me like alot of teams that have actually tried to run against us (especially on first down) have made it to the second level with ease...

Part of this might be because we play our safeties 25-30 yards off the line.

What about Glenn Dorsey from LSU the DT now he can get penetration and is an excellent pass rusher from the DT spot and that safety from LSU is Chad Jones and he is a freshman.
