Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
I've been saying for three years move Springs to FS if necessary. But I think Landry has proven it's not necessary.

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
Rabach is one of the best centers in the game and isn't going anywhere. Remember when he was out how lost the whole line looked? His pre-snap adjustments are key to keeping JC healthy and he is great at getting to the second level. No, he can't push a DT back but neither can most. 3rd and 1 needs to go over guard but Fabini sucks so bad a junior college LB can run him over so you can overload the left and get penetration. We need to get healthy here but I think we shown that outside of the starting 5 (Samuels, Kendall, Rabach, Thomas and Janson), Heyer is the only capable backup right now.
I don't buy the "we need a tall wr" argument. There are a lot of worthless tall wr's and some great smaller ones. What is needed is guys who consistently get seperation and don't drop passes. We don't have that guy we know will catch it on 3rd down. Bring in lots of wrs and have open competition. Nobody's job should be safe (sorry KM and Thrash though I hope they both can be found spots). QB and RB is set though we need a 3rd string at each postion (I don't want Brunell back and I think Rock will want to get more carries elsewhere). Springs needs to come back. Yes he bites on double moves but that is also why he gets picks on slants (Cowboys) and digs (Bears). I'd like a CB or two but only for depth really. I like Doughty at safety teamed with LL. He's not a future HOF'er but he has shown the past month that he can play. Keep Fox, Stoutmaire and PP for depth or bring in another journeyman. LB needs to be addressed. Rocky is okay when healthy, but he won't be in '08. Godfrey is servicable but is too old to hold up for a full season. Blades? Probably not a full-time starter yet. If we get only one FA pickup this year, please make it Justin Smith. A starting line of him, Goldstein, Griffin and Carter would improve the #8 defense dramatically. I doubt anybody we get in the draft is projected to start though if we have as many injuries next year, who knows.

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
I would like to see the redskins with a big time reciever... when i was watching the game yesterday they were saying that there was really no speed on the recievers besides Moss

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
The way I see it is:
Offensive Line You move Alexander as a G We have a Heyer as backup Draft a young G/C combo guy in the 3rd or 4th round and another one in the 5th/6th Defensive line Draft a DE with the first round pick if you get an equivalent one in the 2nd round then pick a WR or CB Give Wilson and Buzbee a chance next year, I think after an off season of bulking up and learning new techniques this guys could be here for a while. Secondary Bring back Springs Draft a young CB round depends on talent level at other positions Wide Receiver Give Espy and Mix a chance Draft a young physical receiver, again round depends on talent level Linebacker Either draft a mid-round or sign FA Running Back Draft a Joe Gibbs type RB in the mid-rounds Kicker Draft one in the late rounds Note* Bring back Springs, Griffin and Daniels (I'm on the fence on this one)

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
How about in 2008 we are a little smarter than blowing up the reciever core. Have we not learned in the past what happens when you bring in high priced free agents or rely on big name draft picks. We need to concentrate on the offense and defense line, and give Anthony Mix who is a big reciever a chance. After all it usually takes a drafted reciever 2 to 3 years before they are worthly.

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
first off re-sign todd collins and rock cartwright not sure who our other pending free agents are
retain shawn springs next, fill some holes through free agency. bryant johnson from arizona would be a great signing. 6'3" good hands has been productive as a #3 receiver in arizona behind boldin and fitzgerald, could do well out here and shouldnt ask for a ton of money floyd womack, OG from seattle would be a decent signing to provide depth for our o-line. faneca would be too expensive so i think we should go after some second tier guys like him. ruben brown would be another who shouldnt be too expensive and would be a great backup where it gets tricky is here. do we go for a DE in the draft or through free agency. i would opt for free agency, i dont feel comfortable drafting a dlineman high. if we opt to go through free agency here, id like us to get a young pass rusher in the 3rd round who we can groom. obviously there is jared allen, but he will be extremely expensive. then there is justin smith, whose never been a huge sack guy but is good against the run. terrell suggs is another option, he is young but is undersized for a defensive end and has played outside linebacker in the 3-4 in baltimore. in the end id opt for justin smith, he would be the least expensive of the 3 i mentioned and can play run and pass, though not as good a rusher as the other 2. as mentioned before id also draft a young pass rusher in the 3rd round who can develop, and let smith handle the run if he struggles rushing the passer at linebacker i think we have a lack of speed. id shy away from briggs, too expensive. again, id like us to go for the 2nd tier guys more often than not. id like us to take a look at demorrio williams from atlanta or boss bailey. bailey has had tons of injury problems, which should lower his demands but he is good in coverage and has good speed. demorrio williams is another young linebacker who could be leaving atlanta, i think he could do well here if possible, go for rob bironas the kicker from tennessee, he is an RFA so they could match any offer. suisham has had good stats but he isnt too reliable, if we can upgrade id like us to do so. for the draft, i think we should go cornerback first round, o-line second round, defensive end third round, from there on best available player. id like us to add more depth on the o line and d line throughout the draft. summary: re-sign collins and cartwright, keep springs sign bryant johnson, floyd womack, justin smith, demorrio williams or boss bailey draft cb first, oline 2nd, de 3rd, best available onwards

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
Is he a FA or are the Vikings cutting him? It would be worth a look, after all the draft boards at the time had us drafting him instead of Rogers.

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
Big C I agree with your assessment of Smith but the reason I'm so high on him is his motor and his ability to stuff the run. Chris Wilson showed that he can be a 3rd and long guy and probably ring up 8 sacks in limited action.

They need to give Anthony Mix a good look next year. My girlfriends brother is a Giants fan, and he said Anthony had a great preason, and the Giant where very high on him.

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
Right now, we could improve anything, besides a RB; likely a receiver, or somebody in the secondary.

Re: What Changes Should We Make Going Into 08?
i am a hokie, but to me chris long is one of the sure things in this draft. trading up would take a lot of picks, so id be against that, but he is going to be a great player
