It's one thing if you're a quiet loser but its a completely different story if you're a loudmouth ass.
Got that right. I'd have to give Lloyd the nod because we actually duped the Bears into trading something for Arch. Lloyd, we had to just cut with nothing in return.

I can't believe Lloyd isn't running away with this. For those blasting on Bruce Smith I'm really at a loss over that. He at least a productive and serviceable player. Lloyd barely got on the field.

As bad as lloyd was the team made the playoffs this past year all be it with no help from him. No signing damaged the future of the franchise more then Jeff George. This is not even close in my opinion...the question needs to be answered from a view point of how much the decision damaged the franchise not just how little the player produced individually.

No votes for Stubby yet?

I guess we've already forgotten how bad he was?

He was bad, but that was such a stunning fall from grace that it was hard to blame the Skins. I mean the guy had 15 sacks, made the pro bowl, and was defensive player of the year right before we signed him. Then all of a sudden he sucks. There was no explaining that, and for me, very hard to fault the Skins on that one.

However, everyone in the league knew Jeff George was a piece of dogsh*t, and everyone in the league knew Brandon Lloyd was a locker room problem in SF. And we gave up picks and major $ for Lloyd.

Could it have been Stubblefield was doping his last year with the 49ers that led to his superior preformance? Of coures playing along side Bryant Young didn't hurt his situation either.

Kijana Carter has got to be up there...

And i'm gonna go ahead and throw this one out at the risk of being unpopular...John Hall. I have never seen a kicker been so coddled and at the same time so injured, while also being overcompensated and contributing under expectations.

Michael Westbrook also comes to mind b/c of the amount of locker room disruption and simultaneous struggle on the field. He was worse than just his cap number to us!

Carter?

We probably paid him the veteran minimum and it's not like he was brought in to start. And he was actually a productive player for us in 2001.

That's an odd choice. Are we just picking names out of a hat now?

A cheap player brought in on the ubiquitous "vet min" contract who actually had his best year as a pro as a Redskin? Huh? That and the Bruce Smith comments threw me for a loop. Come on, it's Jeff George IMO for many of the reasons stated by others (undermining Brad Johnson, destroying team chemistry, providing some of the very worst QBing in NFL history during the 2001 0-5 start). Then Lloyd because of the cost and picks, then Duckett for the picks and non-playing (I thought that move made sense at the time and bet if I went back and looked a bunch of other people did too, but the guy never got the ball).

For fun, here is some contemporary commentary on the players in question:

TJ Duckett:
Poll Question on the trade: "Love it" 40; "Like it" 42; "On the Fence" 29; "Hate it" 9.

"Sounds like a good trade. We finally have a Gerald Riggs type RB J.Gibbs loves again!"

"Hmm. I'm not sure I like this one. He won't be playing more than Portis when healthy, and I'm of the opinion that Betts is the better back. It's kinda screwing him." (so true...kudos)

"SUPERBOWL OR BUST!!! ALL YOU LAME DOUBTERS WILL NOW REALIZE WE ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH MEDIOCRE... SNYDER/ GIBBS WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES TO BRING THE LOMBARDI TO WASHINGTON, AND NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!

As for those who think Duckett is not worth a third ATL has had the best running game overall the past to 2 seasons and with AL Saunders as our Head Coach Offense noone will be able to stop this offense when the season comes around!!!!" (whoa, love the enthusiasm)

Brandon Lloyd:

"Well he is certainly worth a 2nd rounder. The chances of finding a WR like LLoyd in the 2nd is low so he is worth it. The question is whether we have a more pressing need with that 2nd pick. I'd say no. We only need to replace Arrington on defense but we absolutly need a 2nd WR. If the package isn't much more than a 2nd then I am all for it as long as someon can atest that Lloyd isn't going to be an issue in terms of attitude."

"Lloyd was tied for 15th in the NFC in targets last season with 109
Santana was 9th with 134

Santana caught 84 of those passes.
Lloyd caught 48. He finished sixth in the NFC in "passes not caught"." (excellent stat, how come that didn't turn up red flags at the Park?)

"Since Gibbs came back the Skins have been almost dead-on with their free agent/trade acquisitons. Griffin, Springs, Washington, Portis, Brunell, Rabach, Moss, just to name the major ones.

Sit back and relax, we're in good hands."

Adam Archuleta:

"This is one that Williams really wanted--props to Gibbs to spread the love to the D as well. I take it Arch is a different sort from Clarke--more the "big hitter" that Bowen was supposed to be. If Mr. Williams wants him, that's good enough for me, though I always liked Clarkes attitude. He seems like a genuine nice guy." (Ryan Clark, just one of the 'True Redskins' to be unceremoniously shown the door).

"He's 28 and ready for prime time"

" I think arch is overpaid :/ and the money would be used better elsewhere.

if he has 10 sacks this year i reserve my right to waffle and/or flip-flop." (no need for that)

Unfortunately the Warpath is too young to remember the starry eyed days when Deion, George, and Smith (let alone Stubby) were brought on board.

I like the John Hall honorable mention but it's not the worst. As for Kijana the skins never gave him big money...he was the Bengals blunder.
