All day? So you ignored the good punts he had? The one that landed at the two? Oh yeah, that doesnt count. LOL please.

Also, no one took the kicks to the house, and our D did well. Sure Brooks needs to work on his stuff, w.o a doubt but I dont think you cut him right now. I love this forum sometimes, I wish the mods would ban some of the people here for not being "knowledgeable fan". It would make the Path a heck of a lot better.

Okay I'll give it to him, he has ONE GOOD PUNT. Over the last three games his kicks have DIRECTLY cost us two touchdowns and a field goal. He had a bad hold earlier this season that cost us 3 more points.

Did he have any other good punts today? One, maybe two. How many horrible ones did he have? Several.

If "no one took the kicks to the house" is the standard of a punter in the NFL these days, then by all means, don't cut him, he didn't have a punt returned for a touchdown for the first time in 3 weeks. He's improving!

I'm sorry if I'm not a "knowledgeable fan" for wanting more out of my punter than you.

Yeah, I'm not knowledgeable because I don't always look at the good in things. I never said we should cut him anyway. He had one good punt and the rest were lousy. But hey, he can catch the ball for a field goal attempt. WOW, that makes him great.

I'd rather have a few muffed punts than not being able to count on field goals and extra points.

I guess you haven't been watching many games but remember when Suisham missed a 30 yard field goal because of Durant not being able to get the snap down? Remember Zorn ripping his head off on the sidelines? Yeah, he's costing us field position AND points

Yeah but it's not like Brooks is the only guy that can catch a snap.

He's not punting consistently. He's a rookie. Its not like, though, he's fucking up the 'skins big time.

Dont get me wrong, I think it is a problem. Is it the main problem? IMO, I don't think so.

Bigger issues:
-the offense not getting off the ball(score efficiently and early), and being consistent for ALL FOUR quarters.
-Finding out who we are(identity)
-Zorn's ability to lead this team after losing to the worst team in the NFL

Without a doubt those are much bigger problems. I just think our punting problem is one we could fix tomorrow, or at least bring in competition, see if anyone better is out there.

I think what makes me the most frustrated is that I didn't actively notice a punting problem last year with Frost. He had his ups and downs but it was never this bad. He kind of got ran out of DC for no real reason if you ask me.

I agree about it being a quick fix and Frost getting ran out.

I don't mean to say you're a bad poster, I am bit frustrated with the negativity, and losing doesn't help. My apologies.

No apologies necessary I hate the negativity just as much as you do! I just figured it was about time to address the Brooks issue, mainly because I thought our team was great otherwise!

Re: The Official Cut Durant Brooks Thread

Our punt/kick coverage was awful all day- Dante Hall had some great returns.

Randle El doesn't look too hot on punt returns either. Suisham

Brooks has been miserable. To say "give him time" doesn't really fly with me. In the NFL you don't get time to develop as a punter. You either do it or you don't. And he isn't. At the very least we need to bring in a few other punters for workouts this week.

Re: The Official Cut Durant Brooks Thread

as horrible as he has played i was willing to let him go through his rookie learning curve but when a team goes three and out and still gets a field goal because you only got off a 26 yard punt that is the point when i agree he is killing us and we can no longer afford to let him grow as a rookie, its unfortunate too because i think he will eventually be a good punter he certainly has the leg to do it.

What is the rokie learning curve for a punter? They snap him the ball and he punts it away so I don't see any learning curve in that. I said all along that Frost earned the spot in preseason but we let him go. Yes, Frost had shanked some punts but over the past year has improved.
