Why does everyone think that we're "set" at the corner position? Springs is always hurt, Smoot is average and Carlos Rogers couldn't catch a cold! Hall may not be the answer, but he could help us tremendously... I believe we need a kick/punt returner too.

You don't solve the problem by bringing in an overrated egomaniac.

A rookie WR ripped him apart the first week of the year, Teams are targeting him so much that the other corner has only seen 13 passes thrown his way all year.

This is also the guy that self destructs if things dont go his way.

What bothers me most:
after a game a few years ago on monday night, He said he shut down terrell owens, Owens had 10 or so receptions and 120+ yards in the game. This guy is a headcase who thinks hes the second coming of deion.

but he is better than torrence...

Teams target him 'cause the "other" corner is Nnamdi Asomuagh (sp?) the best cover corner in the league.

I never said it would solve our problem, but it would help us.

I know he gets bonehead penalties, but so did Sean Taylor.

Is Hall overrated? yeah.
Is Hall better than Smoot, Torrence and Tryon? Hell yeah.

I guess if anybody can control him it would be Greg Blache. Our D'Backs are a close knit group. I wonder how they feel about this? If we sign him I hope I'm wrong, but I think he'll start out alright then become a problem.
You did a great job of summing up my ambivalence. I don't want to add a cancer which messes with the chemistry. But, on the other hand, if he just needs a change of scenery like Randy Moss did, he could be a big help. The guy did make the Pro Bowl twice.

Damn, I want to say I don't like the deal, but like a fellow Skins fans said early on in the thread, we need a guy that can get some picks for us. Also like you guys have also stated Springs is just about worthless as he is injured way too often. If Hall can calm down and somehow become a team player we will be fine. To do that give him a league minimum or close to league minimum salary with an attitude clause. IF the guy can stay out of trouble, he would be worth the pick up for sure!!!!! In fact, it would be a steal!!!!!!

This is the perfect risk vs reward pickup. Another fine move by the boys in the FO.

I'd like to see us gain some depth at CB because Springs seems to have regressed this year in terms of reliability. Plus Smoot has been ailing and Torrence is not yet good enough to cover #2 receivers. But... I don't see this deal working out for us. Blache by all appearances is a totally no-nonsense personality and I imagine would blatantly tell Hall if he fucks up "this much" his ass is grass. Other franchises will give Hall a longer leash just based on his talent and he'll opt for one of those.

Could one of the salary cap specialists explain what we have to spend on Hall? Reason I ask is i thought after Jason Taylor we were at the ceiling.

Dont like it either. Deangello Hall is not a good player and he does not have good character. There is not one elite reciever in this league he can cover. Remember week 2 when he got torched by rookie Eddie Royal. If he is not even good enough to play on fuckin Oakland then he is not good enough to play for us.

The positive turnover ratio is a must to have for winning teams also. My uncle is Earle Bruce the ex Ohio State coach from 1979-87. While he always did have a solid defense, most of them were like 3rd-5th in the Big 10 in yapg. What made them great, was they always were #1 at takeaways. Hard not to win games if you have a great offense and get the ball a few extra times a game. Our offense is anemic as of late, even if we do gain a lot of ypg, since it is points we are after. I say sign him for the rest of the season. He should be a good boy as he should know his career is on the line, and if we don't get any positive results or he is an ass, drop him.

I have to agree with the Goat BigM. We need depth ASAP. We have an ailing DB in Springs and now Smoot. THe other guys are young and not up to the task. We need a guy that can actually catch an interception that is thrown to him. How many "easy" should have, could have picks has Rogers dropped this season? What like 5-6? To win some of these games coming up we will need to have 2-3 more possesions than our opponents probably in order to win it.

Yeah, this guy can get you some interceptions etc. but don't forget that can be counter act that by the stupid personal fouls that he commits to kill you at critical times. I say sign him, use him strictly as punt /kickoff returner and in nickle packages.

I am so excited about this. Its like getting a free 1st round draft choice. I think they may cut Springs, next year or maybe now. Spring is great when healthy, but he is always hurt.

I like it .. what really is the worst it could happen .. we need to hang onto some picks .. if so the giants and steelers game may have came out different .. i agree with the statement of Blache won't let this loudmouth be to crazy .. plus we are "making a run" this year like it or not ... let's roll the dice .. i'd rather have him on our side then throw against him vs Dallas.
