I will say it'd be nice to have a young stud who acts as a wall on the left said and get collapse the pocket on pass plays...evidently Jackson excels at just mashing his opponent backward and flushing the QB out of the pocket. I guess if A. Smith, Raji, Oher and Rey were all taken and our trade-down scenarios don't really materialize Jackson is a good pick at 13. Probably a very safe pick too....

...btw a lot of mocks have Oher falling well past 13 now (with us passing on him obviously), i just find this interesting. The "experts" and analysts have evidently found their ? guy of the draft cuz I don't think there's any debate Oher has the talent, i guess it's personal stuff and work ethic at issue here. I'm still game for drafting Oher though...his story is remarkable and you'd really hope w/ Samuels, Jansen mentoring him (and hopefully Buges investing time and effort on him too) Oher would flourish in the capital.
With Jackson you have a guy who fits Blache's system (its not just for cap reasons that we have Wynn and Daniels and its not an accident the DEs don't get after the passer) so it makes sense. He also has the size to kick down to the 3-technique once Blache leaves. I mean it seems to make more sense to me than taking Raji and giving us a fourth guy to play nose or Maualuga and having a Mike who we will try and play at Sam. At least Jackson would fit the system. As you suggest, though, I think OT gets priority.

I hope this is one of at least a couple more fa OLB's they bring in to compete for a job. As someone else said earlier, I also hope this isn't a signal to MW that they've moved on & won't try to sign him.

Man Raji is just too good to pass on IMO...it would mean we're overloaded w/ DT talent (ok who the hell ever thought you'd say that as a Skins fan lol). That's when Vinny has to earn his pay...work a deal to trade Kedric (maybe packaged w/ a late pick) for a 2nd rounder so we can still address DE, OL or OLB in the draft.

Seems like the ball is in MW's court right now. He reportedly does not want to sign for the vet min which is all we're offering him.

Re: Redskins sign Robert Thomas

Thomas doesn't make this team any better really, because he doesn't bring anything to the table that's particularly hard to find, but he's a nice player to have around come camp battle time.

Write this down: Conner Barwin is the next Jason Taylor/Mike Vrabel. He's got speed and athleticism. He's going to excel on offense, defense, and special teams. I hope like hell he doesn't end up in New England.

I'll take Barwin, the best available defensive tackle, and give you the rest of the draft.

I'm sure he's caught NE's eye among others. Very good prospect!

My point was that Raji is best suited for the nose and we already have three of those guys and only one guy who is really suited to the 3-technique. I just went and watched some highlights of Raji and (drug test implications notwithstanding) he does look pretty awesome. If he were to fall he would be a good value. The Skins would never see anything close to a 2nd for Golston, though, and I don't know where that thought comes from (I've seen it a couple of times ... is it because he got the 2nd round tender as an RFA?) Teams give up 2nds for Pro Bowlers not for part time effort guys. Maybe we could see a 6th, maybe.

Re: Redskins sign Robert Thomas

Apparently Thomas can play all 3 linebacker spots. I think he's being brought in for depth. He can start in a pinch and solidly back up any of the 3.
