my guess is yoder, alexander, buzbee. none of which will be a big surprise.

I'm not sure there will be a "big" surprise cut. The most notable name if I had to pick one, Renaldo Wynn.

Corneilus Griffin would definitely be a shocker but, I'd be OK with that because we'd be getting younger and making good use of our draft talent.

I'd argue the biggest difference this year is that we made a point to get players that fit the profile of a change of pace/speed back with KR/PR abilities. I doubt Zorn has the type of allegiance to Rock that Gibbs had and either Aldridge or Dorsey bring a definitive difference in speed and quickness we've lacked for years at the 3rd back/KR/PR. I think with any proficiency by Aldridge, Rock is gone.

The other 2 players I think may be in trouble are Wynn, because if it comes down to him and Rob Jackson Vinny will keep his draft pick over a 30+ vet and Randy Thomas. Thomas likely won't get cut but I think Jeremy Bridges will beat him out for the starting RG spot.

Re: Predict this year's surprise cut

Kelley hasn't been able to prove his worth yet, so he will stick around another year at least(Jacobs was with us forever it seemed). Collins is staying, you need a vet in case of emergencies, not a second year guy. Would love to see McDaniels really make things interesting. Chase played in a real conference in college and made the most of it. It was just too bad that both OU and Texas were so strong last season. Texas Tech included. Everybody says Cartwright, even in the old Wash Post Skins blog, and he always rises to the occasion, so he is staying. The best bet for surprise cut is Smooty. Just isn't the killer CB he was back in the days we had Champ with him. Next would be one of the older defensive linemen since we got the DE from UK off the supplemental draft. Good move in my book, but it probably means a vet is gone. Would have made this #1, but since it is a surprise cut Smoot won out.

Josh McDaniels? I think he's had an interesting enough offseason.

I know where you were going. It could be very interesting if Daniel outplays Brennan in the pre-season.

Since when does a conference make a QB better than the other? look at the top QB's in the league right now. Manning -SEC- Brady-Big 10-. How bout Rivers,McNabb and Big Ben? not exactly powerhouse conferences. Im glad Chase got his shot but the chances of him making the team are slim. IMO the ONLY way he makes the team is if CB beats out TC and then he is cut because noway do we pay him the $$ he will make this yr to be 3rd string.

Fred Smoot should start thinking about his upcoming pro-bowling career.

Re: Predict this year's surprise cut

I'd say randle el...but thats impossible due to cost...so really no one is at risk on offense, except perhaps Betts or Rock....and we dont have any real threat this year to either of them....Collins is a lock in my mind.

On defense, Smoot could be cut...but I seriously doubt it...you need 3 starting CBs with experience...it would be stupid to cut him.

I really think the only folks that would get cut this year are backups.
So my vote would be....ROCK gone because some rookie RB did some crazy good stuff in camp. We have other options to return kicks.
