Brandon Marshall is a Time Bomb. Tick tock. Tick tock.

His issue isn't even a matter of discipline. He is a very hard worker.

The issue is that he is an extreme mental case.

Re: Vinny tips his hand on the final 53

Great thread. As far as the final two running backs are concerned I bet they'll have Mason and one of the two speed guys with Aldridge being the favorite. My guess is though that they also end up putting Eddie Williams (FB) on either the PUP list or the practice squad (I don't know if there's a real threat of him getting picked up by another team).

Lorenzo Alexander and Albert Haynesworth will share time at FB

Can Eddie Williams be put on the PUP list? I thought he played in a game recently. Maybe not.

I was thinking Mike Williams as emergency FB. He was carrying Sellers around on his back the other day like a knapsack.

I think we should keep in mind that not everyone from the final 53 dresses on gameday. All being on a 53 man roster gurantees is you get a bigger contract then the guys on the practice squad. Being on the 45 man roster is a much bigger deal.

Re: Vinny tips his hand on the final 53

also from the article:
Quote:
* He seemed highly skeptical of the prospect of keeping six wideouts.

"I wouldn't think that," he said. "Right now I would say I don't think we would end up with six, just because we have a lot of other things. What you want to do is keep your 25 best players that give you a chance to win on Sundays. And the thing with the guys that are gonna be say the 23rd, 24th, 25th guys on offense or defense, they've got to be outstanding on special teams. And that's gonna be the thing. Those guys that are the 5th receiver, the 4th, 5th running back, they all have to be able to help on special teams."
That seems to be a strong statement. And one that doesn't help Mason's case, and almost seems like Marko is #4 and DT is fighting for # 5 with his ST play. Saturday will be interesting.

I too am high on Alridge. We need that 'take it to the house' speed and only Anthony (possibly Dorsey as well) has that out of the 5 tailbacks we have.

From what we have seen from the guys that VC has drafted over the last couple of years at WR I don't think Marshall is at all a need for this team. We have got some good WR at this point.

I like Alridge. But Dorsey has a lot of speed, too, and is healthier.

I prefer Alridge but I could live with Dorsey also. As long as they don't pick Mason. I am just not as high on Mason as a lot of skins fans are. He has floated around for a couple years now gaining a lot of yards against backup and non NFL players. I see him as more of a pure backup to Portis/Betts and not a change of pace RB.

I think Alridge has to fight the injury question, but we kept MK on all last year. I really hope they keep one of the 2, and of course, I hope it is the "right" one.

Rock plays ST, but for the 53 count, ST gets 3 spots:

Kicker
Punter
LongSnapper

The return men have to actually fit other spots on the roster, that is if you go with Vinny's 25/25/3 split.

Re: Vinny tips his hand on the final 53

Ok, you are probably right. if the 5 includes Sellers, which it would have to, then I would think, given the critical comments on Mason's special teams play and lack of blocking, that Aldridge may very well have won a job. Vinny also said there are12 spots up for grabs. Maybe the Aldridge/Mason battle is on Thursday night.

I don't have the faintest idea. Let me put that in GM speak for you:

We're working out the details now, he'll be our #1 WR on opening day.

Re: Vinny tips his hand on the final 53

You two have concluded that neither of you knows anything about football in argument over who the third string running back is going to be?

There is a good argument for keeping Rock and also for moving in another direction.
