Is Marshall slated to be a RFA? I know he's been a problem for them at times, but he is a top 5, maybe top 3 WR IMO. I wouldn't let him go cheaply.

I know there is a history w/Shanny, but I hope we don't throw big $ & picks his way.

I would prefer we kept our draft picks and picked up T.O. with the understanding he is to help McCardell teach the WR's we have now.

What in the world makes you think TO will teach anybody.

Dumb trade if it happens. Brandon Marshall at least can perform and give a team good production, while Quinn is probably going to end up a major bust. He was the most overhyped college football player of all time in my opinion. I know NBC has the TV deal with ND, but come on, ND sucked with Brady Quinn.

That artical is kind of interesting, because if the Broncos end up getting Quinn, theyll end up with the QB they supposedly “valued” highest, but likely at a much cheaper price then what Quinn would have gone for last year.

I thought the main issue was the fact that Denver wanted a QB that they felt could be a starter...and they didn't feel sold on JC...

Quinn hasn't had a legit shot yet. The Browns are horrible and his support has sucked. Like someone else said, even if he goes to Denver he probably won't have much to work with either, but at least it's a much better organization that typically wins. The main problem with Denver these days is that McDaniels ego is way too big and it's going to continue to cost them valuable games.

nice to see that we think alike. 8) yeah i was saying that he will be pretty much in the same situation like hes in with the browns if they do that trade...except the broncos have a better line and will actually spend money on players to win. i liked mcdaniels after he beat new england...he seems down to earth but when your one win away from the playoffs and because you wanna set an example of a player, who happens to be the only pro bowler you have on offense, and proceed to lose the game you lose a little respect from me. This league is about winning and if you do dumb shit like that to make an example of Marshall and lose out on the playoffs you will not be there long. that wasnt like singletary sitting davis where they had more on offense to still be affective to set an example. marshall will not be there next year without a doubt but if we see him in a browns jersey it wont be from a trade that is him for quinn straight up. i really wanna see quinn succeed cause i actually believe he can be a good nfl qb but with a bunch of 3rd and 4th string receivers as your starters, a lackluster running game (although they started to look better with Harrison starting) and a defense that cant stop anyone he doesnt have much of a chance and will be labeled as a bust without having a true shot. Thats kinda the same reason i feel for JC but i also know that JC has had talent around him and no matter how many different systems your in it boils down to accuracy and being able to read the defense and the field which he has shown to not do on a consistant basis.

All I care about is getting BM in a Redskin uniform.

So you have the old thinking of giving up picks for a splashy free agent? I thought that was over when Cerrato left town.

I have to agree with skinsfan69, because I think that Brandon Marshall would be unstoppable with NFC Corners regardless of whose throwing him the ball. All he cares about is having a good coach, and Money! What better place to go to than right here in Washington.

Sorry but Marshall is a lot more than a "splashy free agent." It's one thing bringing in guys like ARE, Lloyd and Moss. But this guy can just take over and catch 20 passes in one game. Shanahan will know how to use him. If a player of this caliber is on the market, which it looks like he is, then we need to do everything we can to get him. BM is a true #1 wr and it's exactly what the offense needs. He would make everyone on our offense better.

Marshall is a fringe No. 1 who clearly has the talent to be so much more. So many of his catches in any given game are of the useless variety.

He was a lot improved this year with Orton at QB I thought because instead of being a limiting factor on his quarterback when Cutler was there, he became a positive factor for Orton who doesn't have the type of downfield accuracy that Cutler does.

But ultimately, Marshall's catch rate numbers and other value metrics are the same every year, which means that, even though his improvements have been evident, we really do know what he is at this point. And he's not a "true" No. 1, like an Owens, Moss, Wayne, Holt, or Vincent Jackson all in their primes. Like Braylon, he's an above average player who is expendable at a good price.

Marshall has had 100 catches each of the last three years (he's only been in the league four years). I'd say that qualifies him as a bonafide No. 1 WR. Braylon Edwards is a flash in the pan. Good for the Browns for dumping him (and Winslow) when they could.
