Wish, adam schefter would just stay out of shanahans back pocket and stop starting all the controversy on this team.

McNabb's position with the Shanahans this year was "Ive done it my way for 11 years. Don't try to make me do something different." THAT's why he wasnt a "good fit" here. So what makes you or any other team think he'll be good for their team?

There's always a market for starting QBs. DM isn't done yet.

Why does it have to be a West Coast Offense? There are plenty of places McNabb could go, even if it was a backup situation. San Fran, Oakland, Arizona, Minnesota, possibly even Seattle just to name a few. And exactly, where did that quote come from? Because, if McNabb truly did do it "his way" for the last 11 years, then he would have never left Philadelphia. McNabb still has some tread left on his tires.

I think you hit the nail on the head. They knew several games into the season that Donovan was not the answer. I would further suggest that McNabb knew he was exposed by his laid back attitude and lack of urgency. But Vinny would not have been that calculating. It actually gives us some relief should we decide to get rid of him. |

I have the opposite opinion. the handling of McNabb and Haynesworth, in terms of maximizing their trade value is horrendous. The consistently good teams handle it much better. Look at Philly. Last season and the season before when Micheal Vick did finally get a chance to play, he did not play well. In some cases he played poorly. But did they put him in the dog house or publicly roll the bus over him; and hastily and prematurely decide he he was not good enough and decide to go get rid of him? No. They kept Vick on the bench, continued to coach him up and now he is one of the most dynamic Qb's in the NFL. Their patience was rewarded. The Redskins and Giants games Vick was amazing. Shanhan makes McNabb and Ah the scape goats rather than helping them improve and become better trade bait. |

No way in the world you can coach up natural abilities. Vick is a baller. McNabb cannot compare to Micheal's natural abilities. They took a chance on Vick when others would not. Bruce Allen took a chance on a once productive QB. McNabb reminds me of a better verbal and athletic Jason Campbell - saying all the right things but can't deliver, at least not in his offense. |

In terms of enough natural abilities, several teams have won SB's with less than great QB's. We are playing this game to win a Sb...right? Or you one of those fans that really wants to have the best passing game like Dan Marino but not titles? I would rather win titles and not be the best in any one category. i couldn't care less if we do not have a single pro bowl player or mega star. Just win Championships baby! |

Re: Source:McNabb to ask for release after season.
I'm kind of dissappointed in D Mac on this one.
He has been nothing but a classy guy his whole career. Maybe a little insecure at times, but nonetheless a good guy, and a great ambassador for the NFL. He has never been a drama queen, he has never been a hold-out, or a negative locker room presence. Asking for his release, seems to me, kind of a prima-donna thing to do. It's like saying, "hey, i played bad all season, but if they won't guarantee me a starting job next year, then i'm out of here. Why should I have to earn it or put in any effort? I'm Donovan McNabb". I expected him to say something like "I'm dissappointed at how things worked out this year, but I was able to learn a whole lot and i can't wait to work my butt off over the off-season and come in here next year and compete for the starting job". That's what I figured he would say. Can we really say without a doubt that Donovan is a guaranteed starter SOMEWHERE next year, after his numbers this season? Like someone else said, he is basically a bigger, more athletic Jason Campbell, who is a good guy, but just can't make the offense work. If anything, Donovan showed this year that while he can still make the occasional big play or 2 during a game, he is an aging QB who is past his prime, and at this stage in his career he can put up mediocre, sometimes solid numbers. He will not lose the game, but when down, he cannot win the game for you. Kind of like JC. I think Donovan is best served at this point in his career as a primary backup. Kind of like Mark Brunell has done with the Saints, and now Jets. He is a guy who can still play if needed, but his primary job is to be a mentor and good influence to young players.

Re: Source:McNabb to ask for release after season.
I doubt they will release him. But the Shanahans haven't really helped themsleves cause all they've done is hurt DM's value by letting rumors get out about his not being able to pick up their offesnse and so forth. And DM hasn't helped himself with his sloppy play. There was a small market for McNabb before he got here and now it's going to be even smaller.

McNabb backed his agent.. said he'd like to be back but things would have to change, etc
Redskins Insider - Donovan McNabb supports his agent's fiery statement

Re: Source:McNabb to ask for release after season.
I would hold on to Mcnabb until we receive a draft pick or had to pay his bonus. Who cares if Mcnabb not happy? If he would had played better we would be in the playoffs...nice dirty ball. I like when the media say he is so classy, but what they don't say is he was terrible this year.
