I don't think Mike signs an extension with us. I think he coaches all 5 years with us then hands over HC duties to Kyle who will be 35 then and ready.

Kind of surprised Ron Rivera was let go. Got to give the guy more time to build the team. I love how these owners think changes coaches like they change their underwear will help the team. Change just for changes sake doesn't help when everyone has to start all over again.

I think the biggest mistake so far was in Cleveland. The Browns were putting something together with a lot of young talent and now they are back to square one just like they have been constantly over the last decade. I think if they had kept the coaching staff in tact they could have been vying for a playoff birth next year.

Just like Snyder Redskins 1.0. Thankfully Snyder Redskins 2.0 was smart enough to let others do their jobs.

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel

Crennel should never get another HC job. He has just been horrible as a HC.

I don't understand how the Jets could fire Tannenbaum and keep Rex Ryan. As long as Rex is their HC, the Jets will be a circus and nothing more.

Sure, Norv deserved to be fired because the ups and downs for the Chargers have been ridiculous. And yet the real culprit for that franchise's downfall is A.J. Smith. His inflexible approach, which caused the Chargers to lose too many star players, gutted the team. It's about time Smith got canned.

In Cleveland, a new owner and the RGIII trade that didn't happen doomed Holmgren, his GM, and his HC.

I hate the way a bunch of high paid prima donnas quit on Andy Reid in Philadelphia. But I think he'll coach again in the NFL. He's too good to not get hired again. Hopefully, he'll take a year or two off because he needle on his stress meter must be in the red right now.

I don't understand why Jim Schwartz is getting a pass in Detroit. The Lions have way too much talent to be so bad. That team is about as poorly coached as it gets.

Yeah. Rex's teams have gotten more and more dysfunctional as he coaches. I expect a complete implosion next year. The Jets' clown car will become an out of control careening circus of calamity. Bloody clown shoes will fly everywhere.

Arizona Cardinals fire Ken Whisenhunt, Rod Graves -- source - ESPN

Can add Whisenhunt and Rod Graves to that list. Coach and GM both out.

I still laugh at some of the guys around here boasting up the likes of Whisenhunt and Schwartz....lol

and Cowher and Reid and the waterboy from North Bumf*** High. Pretty much anybody but the guy who built the roster that includes Riley, Crawford, Chester, Wilson, Garcon, Morris, Griffin, Jenkins, Cofield, Bowen, T. Williams and then designed a universally acclaimed offensive system.

Think Jax is wishing they had Shanallen right about now?

Whisenhunt was a damn good coach when he had Kurt Warner. Right?

Whisenhunt dug his own Graves. Ok, bad puns aside, I mean when you trot out this appalling list of qb's post-Kurt Warner, for three consecutive seasons, you deserve to be fired. Check the talent on this list:

Derek Anderson, John Skelton, and Max Hall in 2010
Kolb and Skelton in 2011
Skelton, Kolb, Lindley, and Hoyer in 2012

Shit, if Mike Shanahan had stuck with a Grossman/Beck-esque player for this season I have no doubts he'd have been shitcanned too. I can understand having a terrible quarterback for one year or even two years like we did (because Mike S. didn't want to settle for a Gabbert after the McNabb disaster) but 3 years in a row? That's just terrible team-building. The difference between us and the Cards is we got rid of McNabb and just admitted it was a disaster, whereas the Cards gave Kolb another chance.

Rex Ryan's job is safe for now, the future GM will determine if Rex Ryan stays as the head coach. Lovie Smith deserved to be fired. 3 playoffs appearances in 9 years.

Tannenbaum did a lot to bring down the Jets, he was their version of Vinny.

Rex Ryan doesn't/didn't deserve to be fired; it was all Tannebaum and his stupidity to bringing Tebow there. It was a whole organization decision to get Sanchez. I will say though that if Rex and this team doesn't get to 9-7 next year, it'll be the end of Rex.

Side note, Devin Hester is contemplating retirement, via a twitter report of a bears writer

I dunno, Ryan creates alot of dysfunction by constantly talking to the media. The whole offensive side of the ball probably hates him, which doesn't help them win games.

LT, Jason Taylor and Kris Jenkins (first two are potential hall of famers) said that Rex Ryan is a great coach and the reason they went to the jets. I've heard these guys on CBS, Inside the NFL and NFLN all say positive things about Rex. Is Rex absolutely not to blame? No, he deserves some blame. But is Rex the problem? Not at all. Tannebaum is the problem along with Tebow and Sanchez. As soon as those 3 are gone (1 down 2 to go), then we'll see the Jets become better. Think of it like us with McNabb and Haynesworth and Vinny; It takes time, but the Coach is not the blame, its the organization and who runs it. Rex doesn't run the whole Jets, he runs a third of it.

Name your bet - Rex doesn't reach .500 next year and is fired.
