Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
None of us really know what's true and what isn't. I tend to believe that RG3 got a big head after 12, felt a bit entitled, like a lot of people in their early 20's would have. We found out he's a little immature in some areas, and not as polished as advertised. 12 and 13 is over with. He's been humbled. Enough already. Let's get the new guy in here and move forward.

I am sick of all the RGIII has a huge ego stuff. Says who? Nothing I have seen from him seems terribly out of step with any other stuff we get from league QBs. Moreover, we WANT our starting Qb to have some ego, some attitude. You don't think Peyton, Brady, or other elite QBs don't have healthy self images? If they didn't, they wouldn't demand the ball, think that they could go forth an conquer, and dominate opponents. I want a QB that wakes up every day thinking about an opponent, "I own their shit."
Moreover, I haven't heard any player on the team actually say that RGIII was a problem or even suggest as much. (And don't tell me about the Moss quote -- he later said that he meant everyone needed to take individual responsibility, and was clear he wasn't singling out any individual players who weren't.) Could he have handled press conferences about his injury, return, playcalling, etc. better? Sure. I defy anyone -- ANYONE -- to say credibly that he or she would do better at 23 years old facing all the pressure RGIII has faced. If 2013 had been a winning season for us, none of this crap would be troweled out in the "media" (Sally doesn't count -- she creates, at best, opinion pieces that are typically laughably devoid of fact; she lost me about 20 years ago when she wrote a piece about the Sydney, Australia olympics and roundly bashed that country -- trust me, if you've been there, you know it's a remarkable place.) But back to my point, if the Colts had tanked this season and Luck was forced to face the cameras and justify his very existence, do you think he'd handle it materially better than RGIII? Sally needs to just come clean that she's a Cowboys fan and stop imposing her drivel in us all, most of which could have been created by a bunch of drunk chimps randomly swatting at a keyboard. But then again, that's just my opinion. |

My ideal Redskins QB would be supremely confident, uber-competitive, and intolerant of poor play by anybody on the team. He would not be able to stand losing. Women would say "he's stuck-up" and men would think that he's a prick. I wouldn't want to hang out with him.

Has Redskins nation become so blind? An Emperor without cloths still owns this team and it seems the franchise QB is a donkey masquerading as a lion.
Snyder has sucked as an owner ever since he bought the team. This is a self evident truth. RG3 sucked balls this year. He couldn't throw, he couldn't run and he ran his mouth the entire year. There is still hope for him but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he only speak once a week, on Wednesdays and postgame from the podium....LIKE EVERY OTHER STARTING NFL QUARTERBACK?!?! That's the required minimum for a starting QB in the NFL. He didn't do any one on one interviews once camp started (that I'm aware of), didn't do any TV or radio shows, etc. How exactly did he 'run his mouth the entire year'? I think that RG3 is really suffering from Tebow-like backlash. He was so good, so popular, so well liked, so fast that many people, sadly Redskins fans included, revel in his struggle this year. Because society is conditioned to be cynical nowadays, we are far too willing to believe anything negative connected to them. Coupled with on the field struggles it makes it so much easier to confirm whatever negative narrative you've chosen to believe. A friend of mine asked me earlier in relation to RG3 if I believe 'where there's smoke, there's fire' to which I responded, 'while there may be a fire, the question to ask is if all of the smoke is being produced by the fire or is someone hold the fan to blow whatever smoke there is in a way that it overwhelms you?'

All criticisms of Robert Griffin the person as it pertains to his employment as QB of the Redskins were invalidated the moment Mike Shanahan was fired. New boss = new standard.

BTW, his teammates, who he has offended, alienated, disrespected, big timed and everything else that Sally and Shanny want you to believe, voted him as the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award for this season. What an ass.
