Re: TO Wants To Play

Does anyone know how T.O's suspension and the obvious fact that he will not return to the Eagles next year hurt the Eagles from a Salary Cap perspective? Just curious, beacuse I know he had a long term deal with them. I know the Skins have a lot of dead cap money with Coles being gone.

I have no clue what the exact numbers are but from I remember the deal was basically structured as a two year shot. There is something like a $7.5 million roster bonus due next season some time. Not sure if it is on the traditional june 1 or not. It was included as an escape clause for the Eagles should TO become an issue. I can't imagine why they would have thought he might be a problem.
Based on that I would guess that the hit isn't super terrible ala the Skins releasing Coles. I would guess it is in the neighborhood of 4 or 5 mil. I will do some checking and seeh what I can find. Maybe Canuck has the details.

Anyone notice at T.O.'s press conference when Rosenhaus was talking, it showed Owens laughing and smiling in the background at one point? Is that how sincere he really is?

I think I saw on ESPN somewhere that cutting Owens before June 1, 2005 only cost the eagles 1.5 M as a cap hit this year.

Yeah, that was when someone asked Rosenhaus what had he ever done for TO other than get him suspended by the Eagles
