It was in response to my post on the previous page, where I tried to reconcile your and Matty's viewpoints. I assume he mistook my post to say that MB himself would be judged. I clarified it:

That i believe is a reasonable thing to do. The point is even if Brunell played pretty well...but not quite good enough to get us into playoffs...regardless of the multitude of other reasons there may have been for us not making playoffs...then ultimately his time with the skins was unsuccessful.
That's kind of playing a game of semantics though. By those standards, then Barry Sanders should have been on the bench. Obviously, it would have been foolish to have benched Sanders.

Remember, this is a team sport. Should we bench every starter because the team doesn't make the playoffs?

Steve McNair didn't play till his 3rd season, that one turned out pretty well. Nothing wrong with bringing Campbell along slowly. Matty's right, why rush it when you have a QB with a rating of 86 guiding your offense?

As a sidebar, I don't think Ramsey will be a Redskin in 2006. I'd be very surprised if he's still here.

Does Campbell move to #2? If so, we might see him sooner than we thought...

I don't know about forgetting about Campbell... If brunell performs some majic, and the rest of the team syncs up to run the table and we go to the playoffs, he'll be back. Otherwise, (and I'm sure offseason performance will be a factor and we have no Idea what that's going to go like) I see campbell being there to take the call. Lets not forget what we gave up to give this guy, I can't see him sitting the bench for 2 years if he's making any progress in the offense.

I think if Campbell starts next year, it will be because of an injury to Mark Brunell. Gibbs will avoid throwing him into the fire as long as possible and I seriously have my doubts about seeing him at all next year. I would be happy to wait on Jason Campbell and know that he'd play for us and be successful for years rather than to throw him into the fire now and possibly bring into the system before he's ready. But who knows, he might get his chance next season and become an all pro quarterback.

I just don't know how long Gibbs can keep it up when he's struggling like he is. No one really does, because we've never seen him losing. I want Campbell to come in and play under Gibbs and while we have a Greg Williams coached Defense, which I can't see happening for the next 2 years. If brunell bombs at the end of this year (and recently he's looking worse than Ramsey with indecisions) I think he'll start sooner than later.

I believe as long as Joe Gibbs' health isnt' an issue, he'll be here for the five years of his contract. If that does pan out, I'm sure we'll see Campbell in before Gibbs calls it quits again. I hear what you are saying though, it would be nice to get Campbell in and on his way to being a successful qb, before having to deal with somebody else coming in and implementing a whole new system.

Re: Poll: Starting QB 2006

I'm open to a QB competition in 2006, for sure. It's just that Jason Campbell would have to be extremely impressive to supplant Mark Brunell in my opinion. Brunell is an above-average NFL QB right now, just has he always was in Jacksonville.

I'll stick with Mark Brunell. He is not the reason we're losing games. He's one of the reasons that we have a chance to win every game that we end up losing.

When in doubt, blame Brunell and wonder... WWRD (What Would Ramsey Do?)

Re: Poll: Starting QB 2006

Neither Brunell nor Ramsey is the long-term answer to the Skins' QB situation. So for now, we stick with what we have - Brunell. However, next year, I hope we begin to figure out a long-term solution.

Matty, I'm not sure where you are getting the blame Brunell stuff. I can at least speak for myself and say Brunell isn't the problem with our offense. Brunell has played pretty well, if not extremely well. I think people are talking about Ramsey and Campbell because Brunell is as old as dirt and can't hold up much longer.

Re: Poll: Starting QB 2006

I picked Brunell, but if things go south and Campbell gets to play this year it could change things.

Re: Poll: Starting QB 2006

Mark will be the starter next year unless Campbell could get some playing time and lights up the field. I dont think that will happen but you never know and we have no idea what Gibbs is thinking. As several people have mention Brunell has fumbled the ball several times. I'm not positive but haven't alot of those fumbles come from his blind side. Some of those fumbles should be blamed on the line and not Brunell.
