Re: Qb

I'm not sure why anyone in their right mind would even think to say such a thing. Brunell has been nothing but great to this organization. He is one of the most intellegent players in the league at the position, So what if he had a bad game, it happens to the best. Would you prefer Ramsey who routinely makes bad decisions and has no pocket presence what so ever. I've nevet seen a QB get sacked and it's not the O-lines fault. I don't feel comfortable when Ramsey is behind center. He continues to make questionable throws as he often throws passes based on where recievers are supposed to be, this is not Tulane. You have to be more aware.

Unless Brunell is hurt, Ramsey will do just fine on the bench until the season is over and we can get him out of here.

Our best chance at a run towards the playoffs will be with Brunell running the offense.

It seems as if someone needs to get over Brunell's performance last year, and start paying attention to this season.

We are over .500, when is the last time that Ramsey has lead a team to over .500 this late in the season.

Re: Qb

Why switch now, gibbs has damaged Patricks confidence. Its time to trade Patrick and get what what we can for him.Going to Patrick would assure us of not making it to the playoffs

Re: Qb

I dont think theres anyway in hell gibbs will switch qbs,hes already shown his blind loyalty to brunell,Brunell has proven hes not the same qb from last yr,but I am very concerned with his last 2 games,he might have had a great qb rating last week, but to me,he just didnt seem the same, his accuracy was off and most of his completions were short passes, and today he stunk it up,but is that his fault or is it because our 2nd and 3rd receiver are hurt?,I dont know the answer to that, its probably a combination of things,Brunell deserves to stay as the starter but I hope if the situation calls for it Gibbs will stick in Ramsey to try and give the team a spark, having said all that ,my game ball today has to go to Brown for saving our ass with his kickoff return

Re: Qb

The thought of a QB switch should not even be entertained. Whatever Brunell is now, it is better than Ramsey and making a change would absolutely do no good. Many people are pointing to the last few games and saying that Brunell has not been playing well or putting up great numbers, but that has to do more with our playcalling and issues at the receiver position. The reason that he hasnt had 200yds passing in the last 4 games is that we have decided to run the ball a lot more and, aside from those two INTs in the first half, he has made good decisions. Brunell is doing exactly what is asked of him at this point in the season and should definitely not be benched.

Re: Qb

I think Brunell really turned it around this year, but it seems clear that we are a 50/50 bet at best to win against teams with a winning record. It will never happen, but I say go for the long shot and give Ramsey his last chance. He has the most potential to change this middle of the road offense. Ramsey would probably crash and burn, but I would rather roll the dice. A nice 9-7 season is what I fear. Would you like some more vanilla ice cream with that?

Re: Qb

Quarterback Mark Brunell had thrown three interceptions, including two in the red zone, and had a 22.5 passer rating. but Ramsey hasn't worked with these receivers so i dont know....but scoring 3 points against the cowboys and Giants wont work

Re: Qb

Broke, he nearly single handly lost the game for the Redskins, I like Brunell as a person, but just look at the run vs. pass play selection in the second half, I don't think Brunell or Gibbs were comfortable with him throwing the ball. It was painful to watch the offense today because of his play, Clinton, Moss, O-line, special teams and Defense saved the game for us, a game that we should have won fairly handily. We certainly did not look like a playoff team today and most of that steams from the Quarterback play. In my opinion with a better QB we might be a strong contender for the ring. The position is so important to the success of the team and the success of the offense, that it is inexcusable for us to start a quarterback who is proforming as poor as he is lately. I love Gibbs, but I fault him for his decision in this regard and feel that he is somewhat of a hippocrite in his decision to start Brunell. I hope everything works out for the best regardless and that we make the playoffs. I hope that Brunell starts playing much better because that is the only way that we will have a prair in running the table. I have faith in the Redskins, but at best in my opinion Brunell does not seem to have enough gas to play for an entire season and I believe that he should be relagated to backup before our season ends prematurely. Furthermore, if he hand was hurting why hurt the team and return into the game, Why not give Ramsey a series or two while you recoup or what have you because in my opinion he certainly did not give us the best chance to win today.

Great question WHY?

Gibbs seems scared to death to allow Ramsey playing time, I know it's crazy but it has looked to me he was worried that Ramsey may succeed and he wouldn't be able to get Brunell back on the field, not that Gibbs want's to fail, but he want's to win with Brunell, and believes he can win with brunell, and maybe he can, but I believe he made a big mistake by not sticking with Ramsey from day 1.

It kinda looks as if Gibbs basically had to promise Brunell the starting job to get him to sign with us, and has been trying to honor that ever since.

I don't want to hear the same excuses next year that we heard this year, and that is that the reason we missed the playoffs is because Brunell was injured, if he really is injured he should no how, no way, be playing, we are not talking about Unitas here, it's Brunell.

Re: Qb

our QB IS broke, but i'm not sure we really have a means to fix it... he's stunk it up for weeks now. I don't really know if ramsey would be an improvement, and it'd send a bad message to the team this late in the year in the middle of a playoff race. So i think we're stuck (barring injury) and we just gotta hope he stops sucking.

Re: Qb

Gibbs made the same mistake this year as he did last year, he has fallen in love with brunell, we are just spinning our wheels with this guy, while Patrick rots on the bench.

As far as making a switch? It ain't happening, unless Brunells arm falls off gibbs isn't going to allow Ramsey to see that field, I don't believe at this point you make a switch at QB regardless of whether or not ramsey can move the ball better than Brunell, Brunell is responsible for this season let him finish it.

I think the most important change that needs to be done is a change in playcalling, defenses just sell out to stop our running game with no regard for play action passes to the vacated areas of the LB's and safties who are just teeing off, guy's talked about it last year, and it looks like we are back at it, the defenses look as if they know whats coming, our defense bailed us out again, how many 3 and outs did we have late in the game?

None of the above matters unless we get better at playcalling, and diguising what we are doing, yes we have won 2 in a row but both wins were not impressive to say the least, that type of play in the next 3 games will seal our fate as far as the playoffs are concerned.

Seems to me that this is the beginning and the end of the argument. Brunell is headed south, but I'm not confident in PR to step in and win out. Let MB finish the season, then there's no "well he only played half a season and he didn't really get a chance to shine" argument. Or, preferably, MB gets out of his funk and plays "first half of the season" football and we winout!

Re: Qb

"We really shouldn't be in this scramble. But we know how we get there: turnovers and penalties. If we don't do those two things, teams can't play with us. Why let it come down to the wire?"
- Clinton Portis

I think this is the ultimate problem... we can complain about play and playcalling until we're blue in the face. If you win the turnover battle, you usually win the game.

Re: Qb

I will say that i am getting nervous about marks performance ,i don't now if it's an injury but he's played to sub par defenses and had very bad first halfs. in all honesty the whole team seemed almost disinterested yesterday.i am concerned for this team for the dallas game.
