Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread

Why is it that, after a win, 99% of the people on this site act as though we are Super Bowl bound and, after a loss, 99% of the people on this site act as though we couldn't beat a high school girls team?

I get emotional about this stuff, but some of the stuff I have read on this site is unbelievable. Were there some horrible play calls? Yes. Were there some horribly executed plays? Yup, and in the end, we made more bad plays than good ones. Keep things in perspective. We're 2-1 and with a Bears win, we'll be tied for first in the division. Try to chill out and realize that the season is young, both units have shown cause for optimism (albeit not unbridled optimism), and that each game, by itself, doesn't decide the fate of the season.

Bottom Line, you're NEVER up 17-3 and lose if you're any good....if we got beat the whole game, than fine....but were a team that likes to relax and play happy grab ass when things are going well and it owned us today, and if we think were any good, it will own us against a real team in Janurary.

i agree that the season is still young and we are 2-1 and most of us would have taken this record into the bye before the season started. but we played to conserative on offense in the second half with the lead. and we have all seen this before this is the way gibbs coaches games when we have a lead.

Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread

I'm not saying the season is over, but the Giants just provided the rest of the league a blueprint as to how to beat us. Even after our first two wins my mindset was that we had yet to see how this whole bend but don't break defense was going to handle a good offense like the Giants, and clearly it doesn't work. I want us to be a good team this season but we're pretty inconsistent if you ask me, and inconsistency doesn't work in this league. Everyone was talking about how good we were on third down on offense and defense, and it meant absolutely nothing because we were destroyed on third down today on both sides of the ball.

Called passion. Like my coach is HS used to say, "you are never as good as you think when you win, but never as bad as you think when you lose."

Not on here to be a d!ck. It was a great pair of games. The skins won the first game, the Giants won the second. Iw as reffing today, got home around 5:30 showered and started watching. Just finished. I almost just turned it off at half-time, thought the skins were really going to run it up. Still can't believe that was the same D that played the previous 2 1/2 games.

The bottom line is this was a game we had to win. The reeling Giants at home. If we're going to be contenders, this was a game we had to have to effectively knock out the Giants and keep pace with Dallas. The fact that this game was at home makes it even worse.

If you are playing a better team, then a 14 point lead is NOT enough to feel comfortable with, and does not guarentee a win. I said this in the Falcons game last year, and no one listened then either.

Now, the thing that I think you are getting at is you are thinking that maybe the Giants might be a better team than us. Well, they certainly were on this day. As for the season, lets let it play out a little more before we decide the sky is falling.

And if the Giants are a better team than us...well we have a one game lead on them and another head to head game left. So it might not even matter. Chillax for now, is my humble advice.
