But yeah, Kirks strength has been that he has moved the offense fairly good. His weaknesses has been turnovers and how he handles adversity. |

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
One day at a time grasshopper.. 7 wins this year is solid progress and with Scot working the draft we're heading back in the direction of the glory days. And I think a lot of guys here are plenty old enough to remember them.. Demanding 12 wins a year isn't realistic right now. If Scot does what Scot does and we can get positive momentum, I think we can get back to where we all want to be but it takes a few years to build a roster out. At least we have football people making football decisions. That only took 16 years..

I wouldn't ever listen to Gibbs on any player. Dude isn't going to be honest about his assessment on these players. Just playing the PC role and bloking smoke up our asses. Kinda like a Larry Michael.

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
“I think first of all the thing that you can say about Robert Griffin is that he won the division his very first year, as a rookie,” Gibbs told the Junkies on 106.7 The Fan Tuesday morning. “We all saw him. He made great plays. You can’t go in that division and win the division unless you’ve got a quarterback that’s really operating. I think he’s proven to people he can do that, and so I think it’s a matter of health, the health issues, making sure that he’s totally healthy.
“And I think you’ve got somebody there that’s got great talent,” Gibbs went on. “Things haven’t gone his way. He’s been hurt. But I think you’ve got somebody there that is a real talent, and has proven that he can do it. It’s not like we’re guessing. This guy’s won the NFC East, and I know how hard that is to do. So I think we’ve got a great talent there. We’re going to start Kirk [Cousins] this week, [and] I think there’s probably still some questions there about Robert, making sure he’s totally healthy.”....He said he has met Kirk Cousins while during some promotional work in the D.C. area, and said that “everybody really liked him as a person.” “I think he’s very talented, obviously, to be in a position like this and be a starter in the NFL,” Gibbs said. “A quarterback’s very dependent on everything around him, and I think he played extremely well in preseason. And so I think all of us who are Redskins fans, I know everybody’s going to crowd that stadium and be in there and be pulling for him. And so we just hope we get off to a good start.” |

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
Gibbs = Mr. Political Correct. Like he was ever going to say anything negative about Griffin. If he were coaching today there is no way he'd be playing Griffin. Simply not his type of QB.

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
me personally, a person's opinion loses a lot of credibility when they point to 2012 as the reason RG3 is capable of being a competent QB in 2015 or beyond.
Its like some ppl just fell asleep for 3 years or have complete amnesia as to what we have seen for the 3 years post 2012. |

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
I think Gibbs tactfully states the positives, and minimizes the negatives. He's not out to bash players, and I don't think anything in any of what 30Gut posted should be read as high praise or deep condemnation for either qb. Just putting a Gibbsian spin on it.

o-line and bad receivers. Nothing to do with the fact Kaepernick sucks. His downfall was when they put a spy on him, he can't seem to find the void in the pass coverage the spy leaves, he is also a one read QB, locks on receivers and takes off feeling pressure that isn't there. It took a while to expose his flaws. Unlike Griffin, Kaepernick has suffered no major injuries. I think some fans have either a blind bias or don't understand parts of the game very well. It is very obvious when it comes to people grading pass protection. Most of the time I heard about Peyton Manning always having the best offensive line because he doesn't get sacked much, at the same time the 49er line sucked because Kaepernick was sacked so much. If you paid attention you would realize Manning only makes small moves in the pocket so his lineman know where he is at all times, they are never going to block someone into him and he is not going to run into a sack. He also makes very quick decisions, it is hard to get to even an immobile QB who gets the ball out as fast as Manning. Kaepernick moves around a lot even without real pressure, his lineman don't know where he is half the time. The ball will still be in his hands well past when Manning has already thrown it. He often locks on a receiver and waits for them to get open, many times holding the ball way too long, if the receiver doesn't get open he tries to run up field. Moral of the story, if you put Manning and Kap behind the same line and called the same plays Kap gets sacked 2-3x more than Manning. The blind Kap homers don't see that. I think the ones who think RG3 2012 will return are cut from the same mold, they don't see his flaws, at least there aren't that many of them. (Aren't that many blind faith RG3 supporters) |

Re: Cousins to start 2015 Season
I dont think Joe Gibbs is blowing smoke up any ones ass. I believe Joe understands that he can get Robert at least a some success because he isnt tied to one system. Joe can coach, Jay can call plays. There is a massive difference. Jay has no concept of game planning. Jay has his system and thats all he knows. His system can get players open, but he needs a specific player to run his system and he has no concept of making changes to fit the personnel. If Jay doesnt have "his guys", Jay fails aka calling plays. If Joe Gibbs doesnt have "his guys" he figures out a way to make them at least somewhat successful aka coaching. I think Joe is saying that I could have success with this guy even though play callers aka Jay cant.
This is not saying that we shouldnt get rid of RG3. Especially if we stick with Jay, thats an absolute no brainer. But I didnt take Gibbs' comments to be politically correct so much as I took it to mean that you are doing it wrong if you are asking him to be Brady or Manning, which he will never be in a million years. I view Joe pointing to 2012 as him saying "Hey Jay, theres more than one way to play football". I am biased in saying this, as I lived the glory of the original Gibbs/Beathard era. But there will never be another Joe Gibbs. The only guy that even remotely comes close to him now is Belicheck. Give Joe Gibbs a guy like Tom Brady and a moderate cast, and he may win 5 SB's in a row. |

Good points, I actually retract what I said before. Gibbs was an amazing coach who adjusted perfectly to his personnel. He could win with any of these 3 QBs. Gruden is stubborn and he's going to lose his job if cousins experiment fails |
