I am really interested to see how the deal shakes out. But he ought to be a good player the next 2 years I imagine.

It's a good point that he doesn't have a ton of wear and tear on him. He's a young 31.

Ryan Clark has talked about retiring. Can't we go with a hungry young guy on this one?

I'd grab Nate Allen or Major Wright before I even think of Ryan Clark.

I have to say, however, that if we were to do a sizeable contract, I would have preferred it in the secondary -- particularly at safety. DL was not as high a priority as OL, S, ILB, or CB, in my view. I am not saying I hate this -- we need guys who can pressure the QB and relying solely on our LBs hasn't been working (no one on our D line was much of a threat). But this sounds like a lot of $ on a position that was only a moderate priority.

Cofield, Bowen, Hatcher, Jenkins, Orakpo, Kerrigan, Geathers, Worthington, Nield. That's some intimidating beef.

You need pressure on the QB to have a good secondary. We had nothing last year. I think the DL moves will make our pee wee secondary at least JV status.
