I cannot stand this dude. If I saw him on the streets, there's no telling what I would do to him.

Breadsticks anyone? He's not your biological father is he? Just kidding DBB.
Wow. Let me get this straight. You don't like some guy on the radio, so you decide to insult some guy you don't know's mother. Anonymously too. How nice.

I feel sorry for your mother. She's got a real twat for a kid.

Just kidding.

Re: Guys, let's WARP this poll!

They announced the poll results on the show this afternoon.

Cowboys 59%
Giants 24%
Redskins 8%
Eagles 7%

Somehow they were able to determine that multiple votes were counted for the Redskins by the same user and were disqualified.

For whatever reason, people all over the country believe that Terrell Owens is going to propel the Cowpies to the promised land. I think his addition is like adding shiny, $1000 rims to the tires of a rusty, '83 Toyota Celica.

Oh well. Man the offseason sucks.

Sure...there weren't THAT many multiple votes from Redskins fans...and I don't believe that Redskins are the ONLY people who vote multiple times in polls. It's obvious he's got some kind of problem with our team and is afraid to make them look good.

It doesn't matter, he'll be crying after our incredible season.

Re: Guys, let's WARP this poll!

Does it bother anyone that their totals only add up to 88%?

How about that a Virginia Beach radio station has only 8% of its listeners (assuming the poll is at all representative) that have any faith in the team that is closest to them?

How about that the results basically validate what the host thinks?

The local sports talk radio show host in my area constantly rips the Skins. Now they have a poll up on their website asking who will win the NFC East. The Cowboys are currently running ahead 35% with the Giants and the Redskins tied at 26.8%. The Eagles are appropriately at the bottom.

Unfortunately, I too have listened to his drive-home drivel for close to 20 years.

I never vote in a 1310 poll.

Tony's whole schtick since day one has been, and continues to be to downplay the Redskins and talk up cowgirls and St. Louis lambs.

However, they are the local voice of the ODU Monarchs, my fav College BB team, and soon to be FB in 2009.

Tony broadcasts the Lady Monarchs, and knows NFL FB spreads like the back of his hand. He also knows the ponies.

The local AAA Baseball Tides are the other featured highlight (yawn!).

You are aware that those buttons on your radio can be used to change the the station, right?

LOL!

The signal from DCs Sports radio is spotty at best on a clear day. My work radio is set on Christian music all day, so I get my sports fix in the a.m., and a little smattering in the drive home. I'm always hoping 1310 will have Monarch HC Blaine Taylor where I can listen to all he says because I generally only hear about 10 minutes worth before I hit the door at home.

I cannot concentrate on the work thingy when I have sports talk on.

I'm just not sure how T. Mercurio can be 13 time sportscaster of the year, with his belching into the mic, and his constant stories about the Cards from 1960s. The results of ESPN 1310's polls are always suspect at best, because it is directly proportional in relation to the listeners, who follow Tony in mass.

I get my Redskins fix from here, not T. Mercurio!

Backrow, you and I know all about 1310. I hate it when they broadcast from a remote site and half the show is spent talking about mortgages, refinances, or heating and air conditioning repairs. And yes, the Tides absolutely SUCK! Honestly, I don't know who actually sits at the radio and listens to a 3 and half hour Tides baseball broadcast -- the announcer puts you to sleep (along with the game itself) there's zero crowd participation -- I just don't see how that gets any ratings whatsoever! The station has got to be losing money with that crap!

The Virginian-Pilot did a write up on Mercurio a few years ago, explaining how he got the nickname "Blastman". Apparently, the program director he used to work for realized their ratings were in the toilet (big surprise) so his boss told him to work up the audience by "blasting the Redskins." Get people ticked off, and they will call in and the ratings go up. Apparently it worked.

Anyway, he's a baseball guy first, and football to him is second. To bad there's not an all - football broadcast. And yes, on some days when the stars are aligned, I can get the D.C. area Sportstalk 980 station, if I can stomach all the static.
