Re: Trading Down the 1st Rounder next year

Trading down is definitely the way to go; however, that is not the flashy move that will draw the press. It kills me how all the various analyst knock our team as the Superbowl Champions of the offseason, free-agency period. It also gets to me when knowledgeable fans of other teams use this knock on us, and there is no effective counter response, for it is true.

The irony is that the Redskins of the first Gibbs era, are the type of team like Patriots, Eagles, and Bears are now, solidly built through the draft, and blue-collar. The Snyderskins are all flash and no substance, the team is going to have chemistry and other problems until they finally get out of the offseason free-agent spending spree madness.

I am sure someone will point out that Jack Kent Cooke spent money, and yes he did, but he spent money to retain players, which is why those old Redskins teams were so good, they had a core of players who played there whole career in burgundy and gold. In my own opinion this is one of the BIG problems with the Skins, and it is not going to be fixed any time soon.

We need to bring in a GM to provide adult supervision over Gibbs/Snyder regarding personnel and cap management, one who is steadfast about rebuilding via the draft. Until we do that, we will continue to be "The Champions of March" and hit or miss when the games count.

Champ Bailey wanted out after going thru changes every offseason, new coaches, new players, same underachieving results. Snyder will NEVER learn that building a stable core and keeping the same coaches on for more than 1 or 2 years is the real key to success. He'd rather gas up Redskin One every March and go on a jet-set spending spree. That approach is good for his bottom line - he can market somebody new every year, and create hype that the latest additions will put the team over the top.

EXACTLY, winning the right way would cost him too much invested time, time is money. So he puts out an appealing product every year, figuring it will increase merchandise spending and attendance.

Are people really nostalgic for Charley Casserly? The architect of the famous Houstan Texans juggernaut? I think people might be mistaking the ass-end of Bobby Beathard's reign as part of CC's legacy. I don't remember CC having much luck with draft picks at all.

Charley is better than ayone we have now. What the hell has Vinny done besides be Dan's butt buddy? All Vinny does is sniff Dan's ass. Believe it or not Charley did help bring in talent on the Super Bowl teams under Bobby B. That being said he would not be my 1st choice. But I think Dan could bring him back as a consultant. He likes to add more people on the payroll.

Yeah, I agree there. I think a lot of people are lumping the two together.

4.3 isn't THAT rare, and rumph's official time (2002) was a 4.47, which isn't great. The bigger problem, of course, is that he can't play.
