If their run D is still weak (I know they signed Spikes & replaced Trotter), they're in for a long night. Once again, the identity of the team is w/the running game on both sides of the ball.
The Eagles have the #1 run D in the league right now. Green Bay ran for a measly 46 yards against them, but they only ran it 17 times with Brandon Jackson taking the bulk of the carries, so the stats are probably skewed due to the quality of GB's backs and their O-line. It's hard to tell if Philly's run D will still be as porous as last year's or if they've improved. I guess we'll find out next Monday night.

those numbers don't mean anything. first, the packers don't have an NFL caliber running back on the roster. and secondly, they only ran the ball a handful of times. they will get tested Monday night by the dirt-bags. with a big dose of Portis/ Betts behind them

Also, its one game. We really have about 1/8 of the infomation needed to confirm anything we thought preseason, if that. Being #1 in anything after one game doesn't mean a thing.

Jackson's going to be a good one though. Best RB in this class maybe?

17 for 46 yrds. isn't much, but sometimes it takes a while & you have to keep pounding, open up the D w/long passes, etc. as we did v. the dolphins. ARE's catches helped the run game a lot.

I see 35 rushes at least for us on monday night.

I think that our defense is faster this year and McNabb is slower due to injuries. Eagles and McNabb always kills our defense so I'm nervous but know we match up well against them.

Their Defense is their strong point and we cannot throw two picks Monday Night and hope to hand on like against the fins. We need to play Joe Gibbs grind it out football with some play action and reverses or screens to Portis or Betts. We have a great rushing attack and need to stick with that all night.

I'm feeling really good about this years team and if we can pull this off we really put Eagles in a hole early.

Did anyone notice Gibbs post game comments where he said they all played their guts out?? LOL!!!!

Nah but Marshawn Lynch and Peterson will both be studs in this league.

Dont be suprised if by week 4 Peterson is the full time starter. Taylor already got hurt.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Not anymore.

Since I had the great choice of the Steelers or Eagles games this Sunday (blah, no Skins), I flipped back and forth between the two games. McNabb is not the runner he used to be. I saw him getting caught by D-lineman when he took off and even looked a little hurt after a couple of tackles. The commentators said he's back about 6 months ahead of schedule for the injury.

He won't beat us with his legs. He had 9 yards running against GB, his longest run was 4 yards. Westbrook had a decent rushing game, so it's not as if the Pack was shutting down the rushing game, just McNabb's.

The Packers D is good, but McNabb was just 15-33 for 184 yard with a TD and an INT. Even against a good defense, that's a pretty bad line.

It should be an easy win for us.

I never call wins easy, but I think we will see a lot of McNabb the pocket passer than the scrambling McNabb. That is good, one less thing we need to worry about and we should take full advantage. Blitz Fletcher or Rocky on a few plays. Hopefully we can help McNabb enjoy the view of the game from the ground.
