Re: Gibbs says it can be weeks...
I get what you're saying SmootSmack about the fans, but on the other end, you can't completely ignore the fans. As I said before, one of the things I loved about Gibbs and that endeared him to us all, is that he acknowledged us all so much. Snyder does have to make the tough calls regardless of fan sentiment, but completely ignoring public opinion will lead to bad news.

Yea this is 1 of the 12 months that Spurrier would take off to play golf instead of coach.

Re: Gibbs says it can be weeks...
Did any college coachs get hired this year? I dont think so right? Saban and Petrino pretty much put a sour taste in the leagues mouth. When Pete Carroll interviewed in Atlanta I knew he wouldnt take it, hes like a god at his college and doesnt have to work near as hard.

Watch us hire Pete Carroll now...
Seriously though, some college coaches are getting picked for assistant positions such as Atlanta which just hired the Gamecocks LB coach (I think) to be their defensive coordinator.

Re: Gibbs says it can be weeks...
actually, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Carroll was announced as head coach. If it's true that Fassel is feeling manipulated & GW might not even take the job if offered, the danny is running out of options.

Vinny will just take over has Head Coach. If those crazy eyes can't scare the entire team into winning I don't know what will.

This is a playoff team, we don't need to be gutted and overhauled. I agree 100% with Boswell's article this morning, and hope Danny reads it. |

Re: Gibbs says it can be weeks...
this is one of the reasons this franchise has been viewed as quite disfunctional. You have everyone, players, gibbs, retired players, analysts, experts all saying how much support they have for GW (analysts and experts are important) knowing we are/ where headed in the right direction. to finally get back to respectability in the NFL and the front office is trying its damnest to alienate its fan base, coaches and players. Its like Dan just can't sit back and let things go, he always has to have his hands into this team. He is the owner, i understand that, but the best decision to keep this team on the rise, keep players happy and playing hard is not to alienate them, make them feel like employees (which we formed a redskin Family this season) and make the right hire in GW.
its going to come down to no one wanting this job. GW is going to get pissed and feel disrespected,as is fassell (who cares) and just walk away from it. Plus, what coach in their right mind would take a job that they can't pick their assistant coaches. Isn't that part of being the head coach? This thing of looking for offensive coaches and defensive coaches is ridiculous. how can a head coach be successful when they can't even hire the guys they want and know how he likes to run things. makes no sense to me. |

Yeah, seriously. Picking assistant coaches is usually outside the bounds of a GM's duties, much less the owner for God's sake. Danny just wants to be like Jerry Jones, which makes me want to cry. |

Re: Gibbs says it can be weeks...
From today's Washington Post
washingtonpost.com "Snyder and Vinny Cerrato, the team's executive vice president for football operations, spent Monday and Tuesday attempting to contact and interview assistant coaches Fassel wanted -- league sources said they included Baltimore's Rex Ryan, Seattle's Jim Zorn and San Diego's John Ramsdell -- but contractual stipulations precluded all but Zorn from interviewing." I hope this puts to rest the notion that they are going after assistant coaches without the potential head coach's consent. Although it's interesting to note that the other day the Post also indicated Zorn was wanted by Williams. I don't know why they even bothered talking to the Chargers. Norv isn't going to do the Redskins any favors.
