Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Bramlet is on the Dolphins' practice squad. He'd cost us.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Actually, I'm pretty sure we can sign anybody's practice squad player without compensating the other team.

DJ Hackett? What the hell is going on here? We've gone from Chad Johnson to this bum? He averaged 30 catches a year. No thanks. I miss the old days of Redskins One already.

Yeah you can sign anyone off a PS but you have to sign them to your active roster.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
4mill per for hackett. he hasn't really proven enough (And unlike el, we're not bidding against ourselves here).
scheed, i think your position was that WR's weren't very important to winning and losing games, so why do you want to pay a #2 or #3 without great production 6mill/year? |

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Anthony Mix FTW, Lol.
I calculated that last year gad Hacket been healthy he would have gained 1,200 yards. Of course that was based on 4 or 5 games as I didn't the first game of the season where he either got injured or didn't start. I'm seriously worried about his durability, but I'm hoping that having most of the year off helped him get healthy enough to play through an entie season. Also one of my more respected stat guys had this to say aobut our boy Quote:

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Hackett sure looked great against Springs et al in the playoffs. Seemed to know Springs' game & exploited his inside coverage tactics.
It's always a concern when a guy can't play many games & there's always the 'playing for a contract' motivation, some guys step it up just to get a deal but can't maintain that level. I like Hackett overall, but I would rather draft a couple wr's at this point. I don't think we need or can expect much production from a rookie in year 1, but if he could crack the lineup by mid season as the #2 I think that would be a major accomplishment. Drafting a couple & bringing some undrafted free agents in, increses the chances that we find one good one. |

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
It doesn't appear any interest at picking up D.J. either. Or maybe the dollars are just going to have to drop for us to make a run at him.
With whats left out there you would have to think we are going to or are in the process of making a play at a big WR however that might be....? Or no move at all. IMO before we pay to much for the couple of guys that are still being talked about on the market ( that noboby is picking up), I would just as well keep Moss, Are,Thrash, Reche, McCardell, Mix in their current roles in which we are trying to fill with this possible WR FA. And use a middle round draft pick for a WR pick, it appears the WR depth in the draft is decent. Hackett could return to Seahawks | TheNewsTribune.com | Tacoma, WA

i read Joyners comments before. it's nice to see someone with a little knowledge sees what i see. ![]() i mean, the guy produces- when he's on the field, that is. that cant even be a question. he's nowhere near being a 'bum' or 'average'. i dont think you can just look at his numbers at the end of a year and come to a conclusion about his talent or potential. football outsiders broke down hacketts games from 2006 and had him ranked 15th overall, but #2 in the entire NFL in defense adjusted value. i think thats pretty impressive. i'm not saying pay him 20 mil, but this guy is clearly a very good WR, he's familiar with Zorn and the system, he's available, and he will likely come at a 'reasonable', bargain price. |

i say this because if the skins didnt have any interest at all, they wouldnt have contacted him. zorn knows the guy, after all, so its not like he's thinking about whether or not he likes him. so i think zorn wants him, and (he and ceratto) is/are going about it smartly. crazy?? |

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
