You have to give it time. The early part of the schedule is very tough (I happen to think the Saints are likely to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl).

Good point,
of our first five game this season, NOBODY except for most of on this site expects us to win more than one (Az game). The other teams we play are better than are we as proclaimed by the football guru's. Hell, maybe they are. AND on the road against division foe's
SO, it cannot come as a big surprise that we lost to the S-bowl champs in their crib
As the thread states......relax............
We have a total Rookie gig going on here with coach. Offense, etc, plenty of injuries to go around.
Was it pretty? No
From the first qtr, it looked like it would be an old school beat down. Our D managed to pull it together to some degree in spite of being on the field for 16 hours.
JZ is a little shell shocked at the moment, and this type of shit will not stand with this team
AND have a drink to better times to come
after all, Beer....it's not just for breakfast anymore

I think the saints are going to get exposed this year. I think that's a pretty winnable game. Brees has been very good, but now he has to contend with shockey and he's had a streaky career. Their D is suspect as well. I could be wrong but I think well beat them at home. Our skins are embarassed. Portis, Cooley, etc looked absolutely infuriated. They can respond and lead others on board to an emotional home victory.

Re: It's one game, relax...

I think that if jc would look to the flats he would see clinton portis open alot ... but are defense was shaky and I hate seeing the skins get smashed on the run and pass... I like our run attack portis broke aye nice run for 22 yards.. I think jansen should come back in unstead of heyer.. Heyer is kinda soft to me.. Jason taylor is shaky at run defense but by next game he will shut that side down.. When springs comes back he will aye monster corner locking stuff up again... so I'm not worried.. I just can't wait for next week when they smash the saints and I guarentee that we beat dallas and philly yall might call me crazy but I saw mad pontential in are offense

I am not ready to give up on this team, not by a long shot. There are many reasons to be optimistic, or at least to not be downright depressed. However, it's tough to stomach last night's performance - especially since it was the first game we've seen in 8 months, we had such high expectations, and we love the team so much. It's a long season and things could very easily turn around; I'm just anxious to see things turned around sooner rather than later.

Understood, keep in mind though that the team we saw yesterday is not entirely the team they (the Redskins) have spent the last 8 months putting together. The front office and coaches were not preparing to win the opening game. They were, and still are, preparing to win long term. That's why they brought in Zorn to develop Campbell; Brennan to challenge and learn from Campbell; Kelly, Davis, and Thomas to grow with Campbell; Geisinger and Rinehart to protect Campbell; not to mention the continued development of Heyer and the veteran experience of Moss, Portis, ARE, and Cooley.

And that's just the offense.

So yeah we're all frustrated with a game one loss, but let's remember the big picture.

You make some great points . As far as preparing for the long term , they better stop the trend of throwing away draft picks . We will need to replace Samuals, Kendall, Thomas , Jansen , Sellers , and maybe Portis in the next 2 or three years . Portis will still be a good back , but he will not be as fast in three years . We will also have to replace Griffin , Taylor , Washington , Fletcher , Springs and possibly Smoot in the same time frame . I just hope Zorn can win enough games and stay here for 5 years , so JC and Colt can stay in the same Offense year in / out . I cannot see us being able to win in the playoffs until we build better lines on both sides of the ball . As far as Cooley , he needs to stop blogging and doing radio , he sucks at blocking ,, he looked like a ten year old last night !!

We need the younger taller draft pick WRs in the mix badly, plus quit this underneath stuff that is well short of the first down. Aren't there any longer pass plays within the WC system? Santana will only thrive(be athreat) if he is allowed to go deep.

I can't believe I have to be a voice of reason, but you are 100% correct. Remember, the Giants D surrendered 80 points in the first two games last season and things worked out fairly well for them. Obviously something like that doesn't happen to often, but despite what some may say, the dice and roullette wheels do not have memories.

Re: It's one game, relax...

I want to be an optimist when it comes to my Redskins. But the truth is we have regressed. We were a playoff team last year, with a decent defense and an upcoming team. We have taken several steps backwards this year. Anyone that does not see that is not looking at the performance of the team on the field. Our defense is not nearly as good and disciplined in its play as it was last years.
The reality is DC Gregg Williams should have been named our head coach and Zorn our OC. But Snyder choose Cerratto over Williams, because Williams wanted Ceratto out as part of his deal of taking over for Gibbs. Plain and simple. So Snyder choose Cerrato over Williams.
IMO we lost in that exchange.
I still do not get the love Snyder has for Cerrato? What is it based on?
We give up on a coach (Williams) that year after year proven his worth on the field as a Redskins coach, for a guy (Ceratto) that has not PROVEN HIS WORTH as a Redskins talent evaluator.
Just my overall opinion of the state of the Redskins.
I hope I am wrong.

Unfortunately I TOTALLY AGREE with you! Williams has fire, integrity and is extremely qualified.
