But I wouldn't say we had a good draft by any means. Hopefully they prove me wrong. Pass catchers usually take a while to develop, so I'm not ready to write off any of our top 3 picks.
I'm a bit more optimistic than you are about our second round picks apparantly. I didn't expect Thomas/Kelly to contribute much in their first year, in fact I don't expect them to make a huge contribution until they are in their third, or possibly second (small chance of that at this point though). Davis doesn't look to pan out this year, I guess he's just stuck in a numbers battle because coaches feel more comfortable with Yoder right now and Davis hasn't sufficiently progressed to earn a lot of playing time right now. Tryon has sucked in the small time he's seen, but I haven't quite given up on him yet (he hasn't completely sucked like 90% of the time like Brooks), Brooks failed but Horton was a steal so they pretty much cancel each other out, Brennan has looked like a good pick so far, and Rob Jackson hasn't proven much yet (But the fact that he's still on the roster being that he was a 7th round pick has given me a sliver of hope for him, but it ain't much). So overall I don't think it was that bad of a draft class, and I think it's too early to write it off at this point.

still a great draft... brooks had the college career to do well, but maybe he's just not ready yet.

plackemeier was also an insane college prospect... hopefully he goes from bleh to great in short order, but it's probably just a modest improvement.

I think it's way too early to judge any of the picks. As for Brooks specifically, it's not a choice I was gung ho about. I think you draft a punter only if he's an absolute stud and all indications are that he was (at least in college). It was a bad move by VC, but a worse move would have been to not realize that and stick with him.

Frost and consistent don't belong in the same sentence.

He's currently 26th in the league in net average.

Which Frost are you referring to because Derrick Frost was maddeningly inconsistent. He'd boom one and shank 2, hence his nickname Sir Shanks-a-lot. The only thing he was 'proven' on was that he was unreliable.

I don't get why people are so down on this draft class. We came into the season returning 21 of 22 starters. No rookies were expected to start so where have we 'suffered' from anyone's (Brooks excluded) lack of productivity?

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I agree. It's way too early to make any sort of hard conclusions on this draft class. Gotta give it at least 2-3 years to see how things pan out.

He shouldn't be. The kid beat Frosty Paws out in camp and STILL wasn't good enough to keep the job. What's that say about Frost? Yeah, he WAS that bad.

I had to look up Plakemeyer's stats. He looked good. 40+ average every year, hit a 72-yard punt in 2006 and a 62 yarder in 2007...looks better on paper than Brooks.

He'll be wearing #1. Reggie Roby's number. I hope he does it justice.

Yeah. By all accounts Kelly is a beast(players inside Skins park) and will be great, just needs to be healthy. Thomas has done pretty well considering he is the 4th receiver. Davis seems like he should be getting in more, but he does get plays, so I don't think it's too bad.

To me it's a luxury that we can keep our rookies on the bench, because our starters are great. Although Davis has talent, I doubt he is in better gameshape compared to Yods or Cooley. Give it some time people...

I agree. Patience. It's not like these were all no.1 draft picks who were suppose to come in right away and set the nfl on fire. I think some of it has to do with the players in front of them, plus injuries. Would it be better to just rush these guys in for the sake of playing them? Don't forget we're winning.
