Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!

Andrew Brandt has been a player's agent and has worked in the front office of the Green Bay Packers. He writes an excellent column on the business side of the NFL.

Here is a recent offering on the subject of Albert Haynesworth's impending free agency. Definitely worth reading...

Is it a short memory or a inability to learn from our past mistakes. NO WAY!!!!!!! Remember Dana Stubblefield and Dan Wilkinson. Dion Sanders or any of the other superstars that wasted our time. I don't care how good a player he is. Once he puts on that burgandy helmet he will morf into junk. Springs? Alexander? Draft!!!!!!

i'm not completely for or against bringing in haynesworth. but its silly how many skins fans have written off free agency because of past mistakes. we've erred bringing in free agents who are a) too old, b) mediocre/over-rated/not suited for what we do and c) both

albert haynesworth falls into none of those categories. he's young and, at his best, everything he's cracked up to be. he would fill a desperate need. and could help us right away until the end of his contract.

You make a good point but it does seem that most of the guys we bring over seem to lose their spark when they play for us. I would rather see someone still hungry to prove themself than someone who already has.

Fletcher seems to be one exeption but I think he's still chasing a probowl. Kidding! He's one of the few who love to play for the sake of playing.

But your right about writting off FA I guess it just hasn't worked out for us most of the time. So that's what some of us are afraid of.

I would not sign him to a long term deal ,,, maybe a 1 yr deal and draft a DE who really gets around the corner . I would rather draft/develope our own , and bring in blue collar overachieving type F/A players .

I'm just repping them because my cousin plays for them, and the Redskins are out of the playoffs.

I am secertly rooting for the Pats, since I grew up in NE. I was born in DC thus why Iam a Skins fan. It is much easier to root for them this year since there is no Tom Brady.

Thanks Smoot,

I was watching the Redskins game so I didn't get to see it live... then my phone blew up and I ran around my house screaming. Pretty cool stuff.

My god this guy is one in a million, Although cody could be also. You don't realize how well our secondary has played with no pass-rush to speak of. He's the kind of guy who will make Jason Taylor and Andre Carter great again. And imagin the turnovers with the pressure he could create look at his numbers and he's getting double and triple teamed he's a monster count me in!

Those guys were all done, And Springs has been very good when healthy. This is a guy you don't pass on if you get the chance.
