Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
They say the same thing about Andre Smith. I couldn't think of anyone else to put in there and hopefully they'll trade down. I'll bet you a silver eagle they do. Besides Everrett Brown, most of my first picks are late first to early second round guys. Seeing how we don't have a second rounder . . . .

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Alright White Boi J,
I've given some thought about it and came up with a more realistic pick. Given the rules of the thread here's what I would do if I were VC, granted these player are on the board when we get to them. I'll do some more homework and post on the Vinny trades down thread of what I think he'll do. (What I'd like him to do.) Starting left to right, left being my first pick: (13th) DT BJ Raji, OT Jason Smith, DE Everrett Brown, OT Eben Brown. (80th) OLB Clay Mathews, C Jonathan Luigs, C Antoine Caldwell, OT Alex Boone. (111th) OG Ray Feinga, OLB Zack Follet. (173rd) DE Lawrence Sidbury, FB Quinn Johnson. Under no circumstances would I get: QB, WR, TE, S, K, P, LS. I can't see them going after another running back unless they trade Betts or Rock. I can't see either one of them leaving unless someone makes it really worth their while. If they had wanted another running back then they'd have picked up Mason. I can see them wanting another RB in the future in the mold of Barber and Jacobs. I wouldn't do it this year. Seeing how Sellers is the only full back on the roster, they use him on special teams, he blocks for CP constantly, and they throw the ball to him periodically. I'd get another one in the last round or next year just in case he comes down the wrong way on one of those famous leaps of his. If Rogers is traded or Springs isn't moved to safety and cut then I can see them picking up a CB in the last round. I wouldn't pick one though. Our receivers are what they are and we can't sign more right now. They've already stated that there will be kicker and punter competition in training camp, meaning Suisham and Plackemeir will have to compete with other journeymen. I wouldn't waste another pick on a kicker. VC would be stupid not to go after the choices I've oulined at least at the position level. Everyone knows what they need. If they're smart they'll follow the same pattern for the next couple of drafts with a RB, ILB, and Safety thrown in for good measure. CP and London are getting worn down and I can't get that image of Landry getting run over by Jacobs out of my head. Last edited by Trample the Elderly; 01-23-2009 at 11:58 PM. |

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Trample the Elderly - I like that draft a little better, but I'd say in 3rd round we have to pick up one of the interior lineman b/c there are lots of good G/C that are 3rd round prospects. I'd especially go G/C in 3rd if we take Raji in the 1st.
This would be a step in the right direction for VC, and give JZ more to work with. I honestly think that if we can get Raji, that would be WAY better than drafting a DE....I heard Raji is dominating all the top OL prospects in 1 on 1 drills. Even if he doesn't get any sacks, he would require a double team, thus allowing 1 of our 6 blitzers to go un-touched....i'd get pissed when i'd see us blitz 6 and not see us get past the line of scrimmage. |

With Marcus Washington probably on his way out and if Clay Mathews is there, I'd think they'd be foolish not to get him. If those centers are there in the third like you say then yes pick one. I'm not impressed with Unger though and Alex Mack will be gone by then. |

if we take a C in the 3rd round, that'll finish up the majority of the over-haul on OL, and next draft we can concentrate on the D front 7 in 1st and 2nd, and another G/C in 3rd or 4th |

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
1st: Aaron Curry OLB, Wake Forest (most complete LB coming into the NFL. Barring injury, defensive rookie of the year)
3rd:Fili Moala DT, USC (I've seen him in some mocks at lower 1st round or mid 4th. He certainly benefited from being with such a great defense but if he's available here then he more than fits a need).

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
I would trade down 1st and 3rd pick into three second round picks. I would draft:
1. William Beaty (OT, 2nd) 2. Evander Hood(DT, 2nd) 3. Brian Robiskie(WR, 2nd) 4. Jason Williams(LB, 5th) 5. Greg Isdaner(OG, 6th) Last edited by T.O.Killa; 02-15-2009 at 10:26 PM. |

We have 2 wideouts and a TE from last year we need to look at. Not WASTE more picks. WR is not even close to being on the priority list IMO!

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Revised:
(13th) C Alex Mack (80th) OLB Clay Mathews (111th) T Joel Bell (173rd) DT Sammie Lee Hill Yes I know Mack is a late 1st but the rules of the thread says no trade downs. So there it is. |

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
That's great that you think that (I disagree, but that's great you think that nonetheless)...still, what would you do if you couldn't trade down or up or out.
