Re: Portis staying?
If Portis can accept the role change that he is no longer the number 1 back, things could work out. Our issue is we have 3 aging back and 1 aging full back that last year did not get the job done.

Re: Portis staying?
Don't get me wrong, trashing a player on your team is not 'nice'. i just think it's not an unpardonable sin. I would much rather hear that cooley quote abaout how Campbell needs "bigger balls", than hear him pretend there is no issue. It's not like he does it all the time. It's not like it COSTS us any GAMES. Besides, sometimes calling people out makes them step up. Ask Rich Gannon how he took the Raiders to the SuperBowl. If the line doesn't like it, then they need to step up. If Sellers doesnt like it, then he needs to do his job right. Once they do... THEN you can properly evaluate Portis. People compare Jason to the best and call him crap instead of the 20 starters he's either as good as or getter dispite have been sacked twice as much and hit 4 times as much.

Re: Portis staying?
My concern is not whether Portis stays or goes but that 2 things happen:
1) Every player from Portis to Campbell to the 7th round draft pick in this years draft understands that if you practice hard, play within the scheme, and give everything you have, the coaching staff will give you every opportunity to earn a roster spot. 2) If you don't or you won't, they won't. From there, lets see what type of TEAM we can field regardless of any individual player can or cannot do. |

LMAO
If only i was... or at least had his wallet. I'm glad i'm not. (my wife prefers men with necks. Doesn't think he's cute) If I was Portis, i honestly wouldn't be on a site like this! I'm not saying Portis is God's gift to DC, but if you make a list of great players we kicked to the curb that thrived elsewhere... ugh!!! I just keep seein replays of Stephen Davis as a panther, running us over to get the win... (Friggin Spurrier...) |

Re: Portis staying?
And when we here think back to Portis, unfortunatley his actions are irredeemable. his once decent play has been overshadowed by his lack of conditioning, and motivation. His attacks on the players, and coaches has no excuse. He reminds me of Jamarcus Russel, honestly. A guy who once had all the talent in the world but now doesnt care enough to get out of his own way...we will be better off without him....

Re: Portis staying?
I think the whole offense need's to step up. Maybe Shannahan can get this team in line. There wasn't a player last year on the offensive side of the ball that gave 100%

#2- You ask if Sellers was ever known for puching the ball into the endzone? Yes he has been in the past. Part of our problem though is the Skins love to use the bunch play and try to power the ball in the endzone. If other teams know it was going to be a run like most of us fans then all they did was jam up the line and stop Sellers. Portis had trouble also. Betts had trouble also. My family thought I was crazy yelling at the tv asking why they weren't spreading out the defense with WR's and running the ball in? Dallas and the Giants were good at doing this. #3- I don't know how many times Sellers fumbled. I don't care to look. Yes he had dropped passes, but look who was throwing to him, look at all the issues. A- Campbell didn't have time to throw. B- Campbell threw horribly to all his receivers. C- Campbell either over threw or under threw or threw behind/late. D- A lot of receivers dropped passes. So I guess they are the issue also. #4- Please don't say Portis would get more yards over Betts. Although they are similar in size and some say style I see two different runners. Portis is the type to take the ball, sit back and wait for the play to develope. He waits for his blockers. Sometimes losing yards. If he is required to hit the hole hard and fast, he stutter steps it and tries to tip toe through. In years past he would hit it hard but the last two he has tip toed. Betts has come in and been better at simply taking the ball and hammering it through the line. Now don't get me wrong.... I like Portis better then Betts and Rock. To me Rock is worthless. Some people here seem to value his being a "Captian" more then me. I value his production, which besides KR he hasn't produced anything. I like Betts but when you have someone better you use them. Which is why Portis is #1. All 3 are up there in age and we have no replacements in the wings learning or waiting to take over. If Portis can get his act together then pay him off what was promised to him and re-sign him to a more reasonable contract and bring in someone new to learn. I think we have it in Ganther though. I'm not a fan favorite of Sellers either but don't single out one player. Sellers is getting old also which is why they picked up a FB in the draft last yr. Hopefully the Rookie's injury will be healed and he can produce better then what we have had. In the long run the team has to weigh his value vs. production. In a Shanahan system RB's were a dime a dozen. Quote:

Also, it's not like Portis missed a ton of practices. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I do believe in cohesion and time in the trenches together to build a bond. ESPECIALLY FOR THE O-LINE. But the fact of the matter is that CP didn't miss than many practices and or workouts. CP plays hurt like a warrior and plays better INJURED than 80% of the other starters int eh league at peak condition |

second statement: "CP didn't miss that many practices"....do you not consider "ALL" to be that many? The man didnt work out at all or practice not even once!! Jesus Christ man get real...And playing better hurt than 80% of the starters in the league?? You're on some bad shit dude. Portis played like garbage before he was injured...and now you're saying even hurt he played better than guys like Peterson, Chris Johnson, Shonn Green....seriously man your posts are messed up
